Building a decision-making toolset doesn't have to be complicated. Yes, it's good to read books about bias and though experiments, etc. but there's one superpower that you possess right now - and that power is asking questions. 🧠💪

How much time do you give yourself to strategize? I mean really make room for this stuff... Sometimes it feels like a fight to get this time but it's so worth it.

You know people are serious about jigsaw puzzles when they start analyzing corner pieces, colors, edges, shapes, features. You can do the same with problem solving, it's just in a different medium.

How much time do you give yourself to ideate? It's amazing what one can come up with after 1 hour, vs. 1 minute. Conversly, it can also have an opposite effect - analysis paralysis is no joke.

Sometimes impact can just be listening. A lot of good decisions are made because people worked it out by having an ear to verbalize what was in their head.

You don't need more time, you need more focus. As Bruce Lee observed, "The successful warrior is the average man with laser like focus."

Don't spend your team's time reciting what is already in the document. Send it prior, start the conversation early, and then discuss insights instead. What can I say, we like to hear our own voice 📢

Breaking problems down into smaller pieces (decomposition) is something that gets posted frequently. What they don't tell you is how easy it is to get into the weeds. Step back and remember to look at the big picture from time to time #criticalthinking #problemsolving 🚁

Doing it right is expensive. Doing it wrong costs a fortune.

Passion is an amazing trait, it gets things done, and decisions made, but at the same time, it can bury hidden choices which might be better. It's good to be aware of this going into team meetings.

You don't have to solve everything. Spend some time listening, and then you might see a strategic opportunity.
