Since 2018, homelessness in Ontario has grown from 54,664 people to 84,973 — a 55% increase. @fordnation has consistently underfunded social assistance and services at the scale required, failed on housing, and shut down safe consumption sites. He helped create the problem.

Fundamentally, this is a government that sees private profit as synonymous with the common good and believes that safeguarding the interests of corporate investors should be the preeminent concern of public policy.

We can’t afford hobbies. We can’t afford to go out with friends. We can’t afford to exist anywhere outside our homes. Then they call it a mental health crisis. It’s not. It’s an affordability crisis.

This is a slippery slope towards the privatisation of water in Ontario. Thank you to @joelbakan for this important research. Public ownership of this public asset is so important.

Incredibly important column by @althiaraj about Carney's devastating social spending cuts. And this is just the beginning. Do all those celebrating Carney's increased military spending have any idea what we're going to lose? thestar.com/politics/polit… #cdnpoli

The spring economic update was a missed opportunity to address the crushing cost of living crisis. In a country as rich as ours, there is no reason life has to be this hard.

The fact we are going to have our first trillionaire before everyone has access to clean drinking water is proof our current system is not for the greater good but for the greedy.

The government should be protecting our public airports, not selling them off for parts. History is littered with examples of the failures of privatization. It drives up costs for the public, quality suffers, and workers always end up paying the price.

Norway uses public oil profits to build a $2T wealth fund for its citizens. PM @MarkJCarney wants to use your tax dollars to subsidize private projects for big oil and gas. This is just plain wrong. The Liberals are standing with corporations, not everyday Canadians. 🇨🇦

Climate change is already reshaping our energy systems, our health, and even the basic medicines we rely on. But progress continues, and we can help. ⚡ Good news: Global investment in clean energy hit a record $2.3 trillion last year, outpacing fossil fuel investment for the second year in a row. 🦠 Not-so-good news: New research suggests that warming temperatures and drought may be fueling antibiotic resistance in soil, making infections harder to treat. 🌿 What we can do: The Nature Conservancy's free guide offers simple ways to get outside, from bird-watching to planting for pollinators to my personal fav: finding new ways to “wander and wonder.” Pick one thing and give it a try this week! talkingclimate.ca/p/how-warming-…

3/ In other words, Norway uses industry profits to support the public good. Prime Minister Carney’s fund uses public money to support private profits. Half of Canadians are living paycheque to paycheque. We need our government to step up and actually govern.
