@TraceBravo @NaughtyNDC Another interpretation, just as I said, there can be many. I was merely providing perspective as to how //others// might possibly correlate how the guitar could be linked to Abby. I like thinking about perspectives and observing character developments.
English

@Spauldingx1061 @NaughtyNDC Totally get that...how about the simplest explanation Neil actually gives, that she leaves it because she can't play it anymore. He adds that maybe she'll play again later but that's not her focus now. She doesn't leave everything behind, coz she walks out with the shuttle pin.
English

@TraceBravo @NaughtyNDC It could symbolize forgiveness for Abby. It just depends. Her leaving the guitar behind could easily symbolize that she's putting //everything// behind her and moving forward with a clean slate. It could mean a number of things - not just that. Interpretation, as Neil said.
English

@Spauldingx1061 @NaughtyNDC Great...but Neil doesn't say Ellie forgives Abby. That was the the OP summarizing the commentary in his own words. That's the nuanced difference that is being made.
English

@TraceBravo @NaughtyNDC The guitar was a connection to Joel. Abby killing Joel put a permanent stain upon the memories of Joel. Ellie couldn't think about Joel without thinking about Abby. Therefore, by default, any memory of Joel is forever connected to Abby. So, I see what Neil was trying to say.
English

@NaughtyNDC Great point, but did he actually say she forgives Abby? Neil implied that Joel was able to move on from his misdeeds and Ellie feels she can too. Ellie got the guitar long before Abby kills Joel..so the guitar can't be a metaphor for Ellie's relationship to Abby vs. Joel.

@Okami13_ They said it right. It would've snuffed out that flame of the Ellie she used to be - and there'd be no coming back from it. Saving that 3% of the Ellie that was still in there, that we all loved and knew, was the best choice on Naughty Dog's part. Because it does give hope.

Neil Druckmann reveals that Ellie was originally supposed to kill Abby at the end of The Last of Us Part II.

LETS DO THIS TOGETHER - TODAY!!!
“I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works. And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness. - Psalm 145: 1-6

@fasc1nate It's time to rewatch and maybe reread Band of Brothers. I love that Damien and Winters got to have a relationship. And that Winters allowed Damien to read some of his diary entries.
English

Major Dick Winters led perhaps the most storied U.S. Army unit in all of World War II.
On D-Day, he and his "band of brothers" in Easy Company defeated a far larger German force and allowed the Allied advance to continue.
At the Dachau concentration camp, they liberated scores of Holocaust prisoners who'd endured months, if not years, of hell.
And as the war in Europe drew to a close, they captured Hitler's personal mountaintop retreat in southern Germany — then kicked back on his terrace in triumph while sipping champagne from his wine cellar.
But for decades, Winters was reluctant to even tell his story, lest he be called a hero.
Eventually, however, Easy Company's harrowing and courageous exploits on the Western Front in 1944 and 1945 would be immortalized in "Band of Brothers."

@l3layze Why would you wish such cancer upon innocent gamers by proposing anything like League of Legends? :kappa:
