Another quirk that I'm in the process of fixing is that I would sometimes use the numpad to punch in C-style comments if my hand is coming back from the mouse. That is, I'd hit /* on the numpad with my right hand while rehoming.
I have some weird keyboarding habits, don't I?
For some reason I feel uncertain whenever I use the arrow key and navigation cluster, though, even though they're in the same place and have the same layout. I think it's because, as far as absolute positioning goes, they're where the numpad originally was. I'll get used to it.
This fox has been guarding the pond near my crappy Minecraft house from any fish foolish enough to get too close to the surface.
Seriously, I got 7 fish in a minute thanks to this cute little derp. 🦊
@beyond_code@JikissGamer Better safe than sorry. ;)
This actually reminds me that I need to play through X-Wing again. I always used to gravitate more towards TIE Fighter.
I'd also recommend the 1994/1995 Collector's CD-ROM versions of both games. The 1998 Windows release cut out a bunch of features.
@Spectere@JikissGamer Ahhh yes, my dad played Tie fighter and X-wing a lot the first time around and I dabbled but wasn't quite old enough I think so that's a good one to crack out on the 486. Doom was so clearly there for me to bother typing it :D
Looking for reccomendations... what dos/windows games are absolute must plays? 486 up to a PII.
Here's a list that I've been working on, which shows the kinds of things I used to play as a kid. Suggestions along similar lines if possible!

@JikissGamer The Duke3D engine (not sure if it’s a Build thing or a 3D Realms feature) really loves to murder unsuspecting players. :p
I really need to investigate the cause of that one of these days.
@Spectere@jobergeron Nice, I remember having so much fun with no clip. I had a hard time figuring out what I can clip through and what would kill me in Duke 3d haha. If I remember right the clipping in Duke 3D wasn't as free as Doom where you could go anywhere. I would always get killed somehow
I always thought this effect was funny after you get squished in Duke Nukem 3D for DOS.
Every thing that appears on the screen will stay there so you can just fill the screen with junk like this.
@JikissGamer@jobergeron Yep. :] I used to have a lot of fun idspispopding out of levels and playing around with that.
Another neat thing about HOM-like effects is that can also tell you if the game is double-buffered based on whether or not the screen flickers.
Windows is…usable, I guess? It always feels like it's behind the curve with everything, though.
Then again, the last time they tried to roll out an innovative UI we ended up Windows 8, so…uh, yeah, maybe it's best to take it slow.
I still think Mac OS X Snow Leopard is my favorite looking OS in general. Whenever I fire it up I'm always surprised by how good it looks.
I find newer versions of macOS to be more pleasant to use, but they look kind of meh.
The more I think about it, the more I feel that KDE Plasma (with the Breeze theme) is my favorite modern desktop environment, aesthetically. It's sleek, simple, and practical.
Functionally, it's a close second to macOS. Mission Control with its touchpad gestures is hard to beat.
