was at that O camp Colorado Springs and Big Bear - wreslted Monday, Gaffari, others … Watching the Schultz brother’s, John Smith - who schooled everyone, Carlton Hasselrig, Scheer brothers, Bruce Baumguartner, John Guera … was an honor to be one of 3 from our school to have been invited to be training partners at camp - my counter part who won the U20 freestyle natty, another teammate who was NCAA runner up and myself having won the U20 Greco natty … was a great camp … rooming with Tadaki Hata …. and being asked to room with John DuPont … which I declined … and almost dying driving back to LAX with John Guerra - been a good life and a rich life for the people I call friend … love wreslting … greatest sport in the world … big thanks to who yall call Scott and Rick Steiner - not their real names - but neighbors that got me into the sport at 8 years old in the old Bay City Western Freestyle Wreslting Club

and well beyond the perception of any sense of reality of what one thinks they can endure - relentless perserverance is an understatement - most don’t make it - we were the number #2 recruiting class in the country - of the 12 - 4 five stars, 6 four stars and 2 three star athletes - only 4 made it - 2 five stars and 1 4 star and 1 three star - it was a bloodletting Who one becomes in those rooms is beyond explanation- but as Dan says - once you’ve wrestled - specially at that level - everything else is easy At that level - all accolades and prior experience go out the window - Biggest lesson as a freshman/sophmore - getting my *ss handed to me by a walk on who became 2x Captian … no one has a clue - and prior success does NOT dictate future success in the least
