🔴 More than 50 Ukrainian children have been killed by Russia in 2026 alone. According to the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, as of May 2026, 705 children have been killed and at least 2,527 children have been injured as a result of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine.

A fake created from someone else’s photo. This is how Putin’s thugs’ propaganda works. Here is an example of cynical disinformation. A collage with the caption “children—victims of a terrorist attack in Starobelsk” is not proof of a tragedy, but a crude manipulation of information. This image is a collection of old photos found online of completely different people who have no connection to the alleged event. Among them are photos from social media, public and long-known images that have been circulating online for many years. In fact, the photos show: Top row (left): a girl whose selfie was taken from old personal profiles on social media (such as Pinterest) from the past. Center of the top row: Katerina Yuryevna, a Ukrainian blogger. Her black-and-white selfie was also copied from open sources. Top row (right): a girl next to a sculpture, whose photo was taken from casting platforms. Bottom row (from left): Boris Kipriyanovich (“the little guy with Mars”). This is a very famous photo on the internet showing a Russian boy who gained notoriety in the media in the early 2000s for his claims about a “past life on Mars.” The photo of his children has nothing to do with current events. Middle of the bottom row: a young man from a Scouting organization. This is an original photo of a member of “Plast” (the Ukrainian National Scouting Organization), taken during one of the official camps. Bottom row (right): a photo of a girl wearing a light jacket, taken from Ukrainian online platforms. Propaganda sources combined these random photos from the internet and added a fictitious date (May 22, 2026) to present them as “victims of shelling.” The goal is to provoke shock, hatred, and an emotional reaction, and to discourage critical thinking. When propaganda lacks real evidence, it steals other people’s photos. Even photos of children. Verify the information. Run a reverse image search. Don’t become a spreader of lies! Because today they stole someone’s photo to fabricate a story. Tomorrow they might steal yours.

Russia has damaged over 4,500 Ukrainian educational institutions (schools, kindergartens, universities, etc.) through shelling or bombardment. Of these, approximately 4,092 were damaged and 423 completely destroyed. According to UN and UNICEF-verified data (as of November 2025), 1,611 Ukrainian schools have been damaged or destroyed by Russia (verified cases only). The actual figure is significantly higher. However: There is NO reliable, independently confirmed total count of Russian schools that have been attacked by Ukraine. Zero! Russia currently claims that Ukrainian drones attacked a dormitory at a vocational school in Starobilsk. To date, neither the precise targeting nor the question of whether only civilians—or also military personnel—were present at the site has been independently verified. You have all learned the important maxim: a Russian always lies.

The Kremlin has brought in busloads of “independent journalists” (read: Kremlin-paid propagandists) to report on the military strike in Starobilsk. Expect some next-level fake stories over the next few days.

The moment of one of today’s Russian strikes on Kyiv. I can see that fewer and fewer people are reading news from Ukraine. I understand that on a Sunday morning, people don’t want to read about war. They want to sleep a little longer, drink good coffee, and sit in the sun. I understand that. The algorithms on X limit content about war, destruction, and suffering. You have to make an effort to even see this information. All of this is understandable on a human level. But unfortunately, if you remove Putin and the war from your information feed, they do not disappear from reality. Putin is a sadist and a maniac. He is a threat to all of humanity. There needs to be active resistance. News from Ukraine needs to be shared. People need to keep their focus. Despite a sleepless night, I’m still here. And I’m grateful to everyone who continues to stand with us. One day, we’ll drink morning coffee together in a beautiful, peaceful Kyiv.

The massive attack on Kyiv is another sign of how desperate Russia is getting. They still think they can scare us into submission, that we'll surrender before their economy collapses completely and their army is defeated. Think again. We are Ukrainians. We will not surrender.

Just on Friday, Russia, acting as an impostor permanent member, abused the UN Security Council to stage a grotesque circus in Starobilsk. And already this very night, Putin launched the most barbaric missile strike on civilians in Kyiv. May Russia burn in hell eternally🤬🔥🔥🔥

Massive Russian attacks against Ukraine. Exclusively civilian targets and infrastructure were attacked—something Russia will, as always, deny. The ceiling at the Lukyanivska metro station has collapsed; those seeking shelter can barely breathe. The market in Lukyanivka is on fire as a result of the Russian attack. In Poland, air defenses have been placed on high alert, and NATO fighter jets have scrambled—not to help, but merely to take a few photos for the family album. Death, destruction, suffering. For over four years, Europe has done nothing but watch.

Our responses to Russia’s prolongation of the war and its attacks on our cities and communities are entirely justified. This time, Ukrainian long-range sanctions reached the Moscow region, and we are clearly telling the Russians: their state must end its war. Ukrainian drone and missile manufacturers continue their work. I am grateful to the Security Service of Ukraine and all the Defense Forces of Ukraine for their precision. The distance from Ukraine’s state border is over 500 km. The concentration of Russian air defense in the Moscow region is the highest. But we are overcoming it. Glory to Ukraine!

Russia took another step regarding Transnistria – the Russians simplified access to citizenship for people originating from this region of Moldova. It is a very telling move. It means not only that Russia is looking for new soldiers in this way – because citizenship also entails military obligation – it is also Russia's way of staking a claim to Transnistria’s territory. Those in Moscow often tell various interlocutors that supposedly only Donbas interests them. In reality, far more than Donbas is at stake. We must respond to this. All the more so as the presence of the Russian military contingent and special services in Transnistria also poses a challenge for us. We are interested in a stable and strong Moldova.

APPLEBAUM: United States under this administration is no longer interested in leading democratic coalitions against Russia or anyone else. President Trump has begun to align US foreign and domestic policies with values and practices of the autocratic world. Democracy is no longer at center of United States foreign policy or American identity. President and his administration attempted to strip funding from USAID or Radio Free Europe, American institutions that once promoted democracy around the world. Trump verbally attacked Canada, European Union, America's Asian partners, placing inexplicably high tariffs on their goods. Trump shouted at Ukrainian president in Oval Office, threatened to annex Greenland by force, claimed that EU was created to "screw US," and echoed Putin in calling NATO paper tiger. Trump negotiated with Russia not to bring just peace to Ukraine or security to Europe, but also in order to help US businesses profit from lifting of Russian sanctions.
