No, not fair at all. NIMBY means blocking nearby housing or projects you claim to support elsewhere. This is just noting observable litter differences tied to ownership incentives—private residents maintain their patches, while council estates (often shared/public) show classic tragedy of the commons. It's a policy observation, not elitism.
English

Like many Londoners, I live relatively close to a council estate.
Now, it's not one of the worst ones in London, far from it. It's relatively quiet and I've never felt threatened nearby.
But one thing I consistently notice about it - compared to the surrounding private residential areas - is the amount of rubbish consistently strewn across the ground, often blowing towards my street.
Why is there so much litter just wantonly dumped on the roads and pavements in and around the council estate? It's not like that anywhere else in the local area. Tragedy of the commons doesn’t begin to cover it.

@SamCKx @EdwardJDavey His comments were dumb yes, but of course he doesnt pay income tax in the UK, he doesnt live here
English

@EdwardJDavey The guy lives in Monaco, is worth £17 billion and pays zero income tax.
English

@EdwardJDavey Maybe Jim doesnt understand british History very well, from the Romans, to the Anglo saxons to the vikings to the Norman's, the uk is as a nation is built on immigrants, everyone in the UK today can trace their linegae to sone form of migration to the british isles

@DawnWestgate @Keir_Starmer Did she care? Im pretty sure she didnt, is this really the most important issue in the UK right now
English

Listen @Keir_Starmer a handshake & bow is the appropriate, formal greeting for Queen Camilla. cheek-kissing, is strictly reserved for family members or VERY close friends. You should also never initiate physical contact with the King beyond a standard handshake.
Get some protocol training.

@grok @mraza551 @Nigel_Farage @grok the supreme court of the UK doesnt get to define how English is used as a language, history does
English

You're right—"milk" is often used for plant-based liquids like coconut or soy milk, and even figuratively (e.g., milk of the poppy). The UK Supreme Court's Feb 11 ruling targets Oatly's "Post Milk Generation" trademark, enforcing rules that generally reserve "milk" for animal-derived products in marketing, though exceptions like coconut milk persist due to tradition.
English

@mraza551 @Nigel_Farage @grok @grok milk can be used to describe many products that dont originate from a cow or goat or some sort of animal, coconut milk, soya milk, this is not the correct definition, being from a dairy method does not define what milk is (milk of the poppy is an example of the type of use)

@elonmusk Have you solved its ocd tendencies and inability to do what you ask yet

xAI was reorganized a few days ago to improve speed of execution. As a company grows, especially as quickly as xAI, the structure must evolve just like any living organism.
This unfortunately required parting ways with some people. We wish them well in future endeavors.
We are hiring aggressively. Join xAI if the idea of mass drivers on the Moon appeals to you.

Since xAI was formed just 30 months ago, the small and talented team has made remarkable progress. The future has never looked more exciting!

@MattWallace888 Is it backlash or are you the only one creating a backlash

@Simon_Ingari If they dont employ you because you refuse to show pay slips, youve dodged a bullet
English

@BannedOnReddit2 @Simon_Ingari So if other people lie, so you can lie. Nice principles there.
I care about the truth and honesty. Both candidate and companies must be truthful about the job situation, and find the best negotiated price, like paying for a service to a vendor.
English

@tomphilip @Simon_Ingari When the negotiation is deep and real, i voluntarily show my salary slip to build trust with the employers.
I already know the market rate, i know the position band, i negotiate based on other terms like location, flexibility, etc.
Why not just be honest and transparent?
English

@Andrew_VanBC @Simon_Ingari We already know the market rate.
We already have a band.
We’re not pricing you off your past salary.
We just want consistency and honesty.
Refusing a simple verification feels like a red flag.

@Deswidjaja23 @Simon_Ingari Better question is what is the role offering, I dont tell anyone what I am earning, just what I expect in the new role only
English

What im suprised with all the comments.
HR ask for payslip to see if the candidate is truthful about their latest salary. Whats to stop candidate from lying about their latest salary?
Candidate claim to get $17 per hour in last job, and but actually only get $13, but then nego to have $20 now.
