I often feel alienated for not liking The Lord of the Rings, but then people actively involved in the franchise like Andy Serkis or John Rhys Davies will say something like this and I’ll be reminded exactly why I hate those movies.

Right. Center-left Dems are worried about AI PAC money but also getting labor pressure not to support a pause on data center construction. There are other tax ideas to redistribute the benefits of AI/data centers but the progressive position is: Just stop building them. That gets you to scenes like this, a candidate getting bird-dogged bc she won’t take the progressive position and is therefore a shill with nothing to offer (note the main activist bringing up his student debt, which has nothing to do with the issue but makes him more sympathetic if she tries to bolt)

I live in Georgia and everybody hates data centers, left right center. I don't think it has to do with moronic left. People dislike them because they are increasing our costs and the benefits are mostly speculative. Plus, GA gave them a bunch of subsidies.
