@moose_man1125 I hear you on most of this. Personally (and I think this is just where we differ) if he’s an asshole and doesn’t change that makes him way less likable and harder to root for. It’s too big a negative trait for me to overlook if it’s just gonna be played straight 🤷♂️

Could easily be fixed in the remake if they wanted to.
But also... sometimes people are just assholes and don't change? It's not really enforcing it by featuring it in the game. No one else does it or laughs at his jokes.

@moose_man1125 @kanjipilled @HoshiHime_ I could see this to a certain point. Yosuke making homophobic jokes as a 16 year old is realistic. My problem with it is that the narrative doesn’t challenge or punish Yosuke for this in any way so it feels like an endorsement of his behavior in universe.

@downeymore @drowninginbyler The only 1 who got some form of a good ending is Will as he was in a community of fellow LGBTQ people but even then he looks pretty alone till that guy who we never get confirmed is a boyfriend shows up. It sucked for all three of them.

As a gay man actually fuck you. Yosuke’s homophobia is an integral part of his character and reflects the attitudes of the time period. Persona 4 is a period-piece of the early 2000s not 2026 with flip phones. Why the fuck does every piece of media need to be turned into MLP?!

I'm not necessarily alarmed by this yet, but I am both nervous and curious about what kind of changes they mean; They're probably just going to tone down some of the dated jokes. They mentioned that core character traits wouldn't be changed, so I've still got a lot of faith!

His homophobia is never challenged by the narrative and he grows past it. Actually insane cognitive dissonance

But Persona 4 doesn't take place in the world we live in now - It takes place specifically in 2011, released in 2008.
I'm not against changes, nor do I particularly care for Yosuke's dialogue - but clearly changing it for modern sensibilities makes me worry what other changes will be made.

@Manga_Kamen Does Yosuke ever acknowledge this as a problem and grow from it tho? Even after Kanji’s palace he still insinuates that Kanji will rape him just cuz he’s gay, and the narrative never punishes or challenges him on it. If someone reads it as endorsing homophobia I don’t blame them
