He didn’t bark. He didn’t jump. He didn’t even lift his silky white head when the family walked in. He knew the routine.
The family went straight to the kennel on the left. It was full of 8-week-old Maltese puppies. There was squealing, tiny clouds of fur bouncing, and “Awws.” In the next cage, the 11-year-old Maltese, Barnaby, just let out a heavy sigh and closed his eyes.
“Don’t mind him,” the volunteer told the family. “He’s just… waiting out his time. He’s been here 400 days.”
400 days. That’s 400 days of watching everyone else get picked. 400 days of being “too old,” “too slow,” or “too sad.”
The dad of the family looked at the puppies. Then he looked at the quiet, graying Maltese lying in the next cage. He walked over to the bars. Barnaby didn’t move. He thought he was invisible.
The man reached his hand through the wire. Barnaby’s little nose twitched. Slowly, carefully, he lifted his head. He gently pressed his forehead against the man’s fingers.
“I don’t want a puppy,” the man said to the volunteer. “I want him.”
The volunteer dropped her clipboard. “Barnaby? But… he has arthritis. He sleeps 20 hours a day.”
“Perfect,” the man smiled. “So do I.”
Barnaby walked out of the shelter today. He didn’t run. He walked slowly, his long white coat trailing behind him. But when he got to the car, he looked back at the shelter, then up at his new dad, and gave the biggest, goofiest Maltese smile of his life.
He wasn’t invisible. He was just waiting for the right person to see him.

Rupert Grint, the English actor who played Ron in the Harry Potter films, was too young to spend his money when he started getting rich.
He had to wait until he was of legal age to commit his first folly.
His first adult purchase, with the enormous fortune he had accumulated, was... an ice cream truck.
An ice cream truck.
This is the truck he bought. A 1974 Bedford van, designed by Mr. Whippy.
And surprisingly, the young actor didn't want an ice cream truck to be displayed in his front yard. He wanted to use it to sell ice cream!
Or rather, offer them to children for free.
Which he did for a while, driving his truck through the small villages in his region, handing out popsicles along the way.
It was a childhood dream.

“She would have been 7 years old on Feb 27. I rescued her when she was 2 days old. She had been released several times and always stayed close to home. she came back to give birth to her babies. Watching her delivery and raising her kits was the most amazing experience I have ever had being a rehabber. She was a fighter, she survived distemper, she was poisoned, several different attacks in the wild. The distemper left her with neurological issues, that point she was deemed non-releasable. She has been indoors with me for almost 5 years now. Her and I have been so much together. We both dependent on each other she could make it without me and I couldn't make it without her. The bond that her and I developed with each other was like no other that I've ever experienced. NAWTY fell asleep on my chest her last night and when I woke up she was still laying on my chest she looked up at me and licked my chin once then took a few deep breaths and she was gone. My heart is hurting so bad. I am totally lost without her. She was my soulmate there's no words that can describe how much I loved her. Thank you for accepting me into this group. And I'm sending my heartfelt condolences to all that have lost their love. Many blessings to you all.

An old tired-looking dog wanders into a guy's yard. He examines the dog's collar and feels his well-fed belly and knows the dog has a home.
The dog follows him into the house, goes down the hall, jumps on the couch, gets comfortable and falls asleep. The man thinks its rather odd, but lets him sleep. After about an hour the dog wakes up, walks to the door and the guy lets him out. The dog wags his tale and leaves.
The next day the dog comes back and scratches at the door. The guy opens the door, the dog comes in, goes down the hall, jumps on the couch, gets comfortable and falls asleep again. The man lets him sleep. After about an hour the dog wakes up, walks to the door and the guy lets him out. The dog wags his tale and leaves.
This goes on for days. The guy grows really curious, so he pins a note on the dog's collar: "Your dog has been taking a nap at my house every day."
The next day the dog arrives with another note pinned to his collar: "He lives in a home with four children -- he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?'

Here is a sad update from Elsa’s dad, Kevin:
We are heartbroken to share news about Elsa.
This morning, she woke up with a drooping face and seemed confused. Adrienne took her to the children’s ER, where we were told that her leukemia has spread to her brain. The doctors said there is not much more they can do other than keep her comfortable.
She received platelets today and is now back home with us, where she should be. Right now, we are focusing on loving her, keeping her comfortable, and cherishing every moment we have together. The doctors believe her time may be very short, possibly around a week.
Please keep Elsa and our family in your thoughts and prayers. We are truly thankful for all the love and support you have shown us throughout this journey.
