This is a big bummer. What you’re seeing here is the inflow berm for the TJ Meenach stormwater pond has blown out, some of it into the river. These stormwater ponds were designed to clean dirty street water through infiltration that otherwise would’ve gone into the river.
At a meeting about toxic metals from the Silver Valley. Approximately 100 tundra swans die each year from lead poisoning that originated from the Bunker Hill mine. Max is 388 swans.
Yesterday, the U.S. EPA issued a Final PCB TMDL for the Spokane River. This is a result of years of advocacy, research, and legal action aimed at reducing harmful PCB pollution affecting our river. But, we believe it is insufficient to address the contamination.

Last night, our contractor crews working on the North Spokane Corridor began setting the first of many girders that will span the Spokane River. In a few weeks, these puzzle pieces will come together & the bridge will really start to take shape.
