I wish poets understood that the general population has no interest in what we do, so when we speak we are speaking only to each other. The delusion that poetry is something powerful is a straight line to all kinds of toxic positivities that are really just us lying to ourselves.

Art, the ability to do it, to participate, is maybe an elitist thing. It costs to do the fucking art. We all ain't got. We all can't do.

The copy pictured is actually the prototype. The edition has buckram spines and corners, like old library books. But they're in the press for the next day or so so they can't come out for photoshoots.

Also, friends, past contributors, please play with us. This space is wide open. Do something weird, do something wrong. Give me something otherwise unpublishable. See the fences, burn them down and give literature the finger. Make a mess for me, please.

@poetryduh I love that we hate the realization of the promise of the internet. It's exactly what they told us it would be. It's funny that anybody thought it was a good thing.

@egabbert When my parents die I will no longer have to participate in polite fictions, and my voice will change accordingly. I won't any longer have to wonder if there's something to their shitty beliefs. There's some hope there.

It's very confusing to me when people imagine that racism and sexism will be over when all the old people die as though old people have not always been dying

@dorothykchan Pretend there's some other length. There's not. These things are as long as they must be. The call, the cry, the croon, requires a breadth of sound and space. The triple sonnet gives them almost enough.
