Why do you think people pray together? In esoteric traditions there is a concept called Egregore. An egregore is a thought-form created by collective attention. When many minds focus on the same idea with emotion and intention, they generate a shared psychic structure. Thoughts, emotions, and energies are fuel. When monks chant in groups, hundreds of voices repeating the same words, the same intention, at the same time, they are feeding an egregore.
