de zerbi’s statement doesn’t change what was said, even if it was years ago. while it’s been addressed, fans and supporter groups who spoke up based on their morals were attacked for it, and that shouldn’t be overlooked.

This is good, it obviously doesn’t change what he said, but it’s good the club have done this and we can move forward now

🚨🗣️ Roberto De Zerbi addressing concerns from #Tottenham fans with comments made at Marseille: "I have never wanted to downplay the issue of violence against women, or violence against anyone more broadly. In my life I have always stood up for those who are more vulnerable, more fragile. I've consistently fought and taken a stand to be on the side of those who are most at risk. Those of you who know me well, will know I'm not the type of person who makes compromises to win more games or to win an extra title. I'm sorry if this offended anyone's feelings with this subject matter - I have a daughter and I'm very sensitive to these things, and I always have been. I hope that over time people will get to know me better and will understand that at that moment I didn't mean to take a stance.

Everyone’s said their piece on RDZ. He’s the Tottenham manager now and as fans we have no other option but to accept it. Now that it’s all done and dusted, all the focus has to be shifted on supporting the team — the primary reason why we’re all Spurs fans in the first place. Players will come and go. Managers will come and go. CEO’s will come and go. Owners will come and go. The fans are the one constant. Personally, I will find it difficult to fully support RDZ. I can still acknowledge his quality as a football coach, while disagreeing with many other aspects of his character, and questioning his suitability to us long-term. At the end of the day I will always support the team. No manager changes that unwavering support and love I have for my football team. Seven cup finals to go. Up the Spurs.

I'm uncomfortable with De Zerbi's appointment. That's my opinion. I should be allowed to say that. No, I'm not forcing my opinion on you by saying that. No, I do not belong in the kitchen. And no, it's not "woke" to have a differing opinion to you.

@irmelville @Tottenham_Regen And that's fine! 👍🏻 As you can see from some of the replies some people think it's okay to attack you just for having a differing opinion which is the point I'm making. At the end of the day we're all behind the team.

@SpursonSea This is the type of post that makes sense. You have your opinion, I think this is a great appointment. I can’t push my opinion on you nor you to me. Coys

@Tottenham_Regen I do say in the second part of this post that I of course want us to stay up and for us to do well but I can also be uncomfortable with the appointment. Two things can be true at the same time.

@SpursonSea Nobody actually cares what you’re uncomfortable with. You gotta be some sort of idiot not to see that spurs are in trouble of going down. Spurs need a permanent manager and fast. He was the best available at this moment. Could actually be a very good manager for us.

@NobeterBuachail It’s not a question of quality, he’s a good manager. But it’s morally where this leaves us as a club. Like we said, we all want the club to do well and survive this horrendous period in our history - if our women are voicing their concerns - we should listen.

@HEISENSPURS_ Funnily enough we’re a team on this page that all agree with this post. I’m a 34 year old guy and my wife loves it when I’m in the kitchen.

Have made my feelings clear on his character and his backing of Greenwood, I'm not a fan of it. I'm not sure it's right to make this big a decision that divides the fanbase at such a crucial point and I think it's a statement of panic rather than ambition that some people are dressing it up as. I think De Zerbi is a good manager that I definitely think could keep us in the Premier League. There is a lot to like about his football principles and it'll be interesting to see how quickly he implements them and if he keeps us up, how far that will take us next season. I'm not a fan of the appointment, I know there are no morals in Football really when you look across the spectrum and I wouldn't hold it against anyone for saying "look, it's certainly not ideal when you look at his past, but I'm a Spurs fan and nothing's going to change, I'll always support the team". I'm 100% in that camp, we can't change this, I'll still be backing the team and I hope this works out, but I really wish people would stop attacking others for really not wanting him. The Greenwood situation is a perfectly justifiable reason for not wanting De Zerbi at the club. Stop calling people "woke" for upholding their moral integrity despite the dire situation that we're in. It's totally up to you how you feel about this appointment, it's okay to feel fine with it, it's okay to be totally against it and it's okay to be somewhere in the middle, but the one thing we don't need at the moment is more division and some of the stuff I've seen directed at fans on here that have concerns about De Zerbi is just grim. Will just be talking about De Zerbi's football going forward now unless anything else comes up, have made my feelings clear on it. Anyway, 12 days til Sunderland and hopefully we can push on now.

If De Zerbi takes control of this club, I’ll deactivate my account and call it a day with the club. My club wouldn’t hire such a person, regardless of our situation.
