Twitter in Education: book lists on education and pedagogy seem to feature few authors of colour. (My apologies to those who dislike the term). Do you have books to add to a representative list? I’ll start with those I do know. @Vivgrant - Staying A Head (leadership)

Breaking my social media silence to share some very sad news. My Darling Dad passed away on Monday 6th January, leaving us utterly heartbroken. The best tribute I can pay him is to say he was an exceptional human being. The world was fortunate to have him here for 94 years 💔💔

If deaf children can learn to read, do they learn to read without phonics? If so, how are they doing it? If they are doing it without phonics, is it possible for hearing children to learn how to read without phonics? @charliehacking

We’re home. I’m bloomin exhausted. Not sure if that was the running to the scene of the accident or the adrenaline now subsidising. The dr said she was lucky to walk in and if the driver had been going any faster she could have been fighting for her life. That really hit home.

NEWS: Ofwat has announced water bills to rise by 36% in Eng and Wales over the next five years (22% for firms that do only water not sewerage) Yet the rise is heavily front loaded, with a 20% rise next year. This means average bill will rise from £440 to £526 this year. There's huge variance by water firm. I've attached Ofwat's table below. We haven’t lost *half of our hedgerows* since the 1940s, we’ve lost pretty much all. With the odd exception, the ‘hedgerows’ that remain are machine-flailed to lifelessness, leaving them useless for wildlife. No width or depth, no cover, no spring blossom, no berries, nada.

I love this map of places where sycamore gap tree saplings will be planted. They include the Rob Burrow Centre for MND and a plot in memory of a 15 year old girl killed by her ex-boyfriend. They stretch from the Orkneys to Cornwall. By the National Trust.

one thing i think about a lot w my son is that, after 18 months, children are so insanely capable that really the only limits on your ability to include them in things is your risk tolerance and whether you have objects in the right size and height
