A woman who was gang-raped and her younger sister, who suffered from guilt, both took their own lives. Later, their mother was sued by the rapists and is now required to compensate them financially. In 2004, a woman worked as a film extra. While working, she was raped by four men and sexually harassed by eight others. Afterward, she began exhibiting strange behaviors at home, such as mumbling to herself or breaking objects. Her family took her to the hospital, where they discovered that she had been raped by multiple men. She received treatment at the hospital and filed charges against the perpetrators. However, the men threatened her, saying things like, “I will burn down your house” and “I will kill your entire family.” Out of fear, she withdrew her charges. On August 18, 2009, she jumped from the 18th floor of an apartment building and died by suicide. In her suicide note, she wrote, “I was a sex toy for those men” and “I have no reason to live anymore.” Six days after her suicide, her younger sister also took her own life. She felt guilty because she had recommended the job to her older sister. After losing both daughters to suicide, their father suffered a stroke due to shock and passed away. The mother grieved deeply over the suicides of her daughters and the death of her husband. She was also enraged that none of the men who had raped her daughter faced any punishment. In 2014, she filed a civil lawsuit against the twelve men who committed sexual crimes against her daughter. However, because three years had passed since the crimes occurred, she lost all of the lawsuits. As a result, the perpetrators faced no consequences. Instead, they sued the mother for holding solo protests with placards that read “Rapist! Murderer!” (In South Korea, there is a law called “Defamation by Fact,” which allows individuals to sue for defamation even if the statements made are true.) Several of the perpetrators filed lawsuits against her and won. Since they won all three trials, she is now required to pay them compensation ranging from 3 million to 5 million KRW per person. Other perpetrators also filed lawsuits against her. In one trial, the court ruled that she must pay them 10 million KRW in damages and refrain from posting anything about them online in the future. If she violates this ruling and posts about them online again, she will have to pay them an additional 1 million KRW per post (this ruling is not yet finalized; if she appeals, a second trial will take place). I feel deep sorrow for the woman who was raped and driven to suicide, for her younger sister who suffered from guilt and also chose suicide, and for their father who died from shock after losing his daughters. No he podido dejar de pensar en lo que hizo Khloe Kardashian de remover quirúrgicamente las garritas de sus gatitos.
Esta cirugía es ilegal en California (donde ella reside) y en muchos otros lugares porque es considerada tortura animal, es una amputación. Genera dolor crónico (de por vida) en los gatitos y otras complicaciones.
Eso significa que necesariamente ella sabía las implicaciones y buscó un veterinario que practicara una cirugía ilegal.
Eso es todo lo que necesito saber de ella, alguien que pone su comodidad por encima de la dignidad de otros seres vivos. Los muebles u otras pertenencias son reemplazables, sobre todo para ella que es millonaria, pero esos gatitos nunca dejarán de sentir dolor.

Les gosses mettent le bronx dans la rue pendant que certains parents démissionnent tranquillement à la maison… Et la cinéaste d’un jour est toute contente de filmer des jeunes qui ouvrent une bouche d’incendie. Oui oui, c’est sûrement très drôle le jour où les pompiers manqueront de pression pour sauver des victimes d’un incendie… Des dizaines de milliers de litres d’eau gaspillés, des dégradations, des rues dangereuses pour tout le monde… mais silence radio chez beaucoup de grands défenseurs de la planète. Et au final, c’est toujours la collectivité qui paie pendant que les responsables expliquent que “ce sont des jeunes”. Le vandalisme n’a rien de festif.

진짜 화나는 건, 이 “오리입 질경” 디자인이 거의 180년 전 만들어진 거라는 점임.
그리고 더 빡치는 건 그 탄생 배경.
1845년 미국 의사 제임스 매리언 심스가 흑인 여성 노예들을 마취도 없이 반복적으로 생체실험하면서 만든 도구가 지금까지 표준처럼 쓰이고 있다는 거.
당시엔 이미 마취제가 존재했는데도
“흑인은 고통을 덜 느낀다”는 인종차별 논리로 여성들 몸을 실험대처럼 사용했고,
그 과정에서 나온 게 지금의 금속 질경 디자인임.
근데 문제는 2020년대가 된 지금도 본질이 별로 안 바뀌었다는 거.
환자가 얼마나 차갑고 아픈지,
얼마나 수치스럽고 긴장되는지는 뒷전이고,
“의사가 보기 편하다”
“병원이 비용 적게 든다”
이 이유로 그대로 유지돼온 거잖아.
실제로 여성 디자이너들이 통증 줄인 실리콘 질경, 꽃잎처럼 부드럽게 펼쳐지는 디자인 같은 대안을 계속 내놓고 있는데도,
의료계는 “기존 것도 되는데 굳이?” 하면서 변화 속도 엄청 느림.
결국 여성들이 수십 년 동안 말해온
“아프다”
“무섭다”
“검사 자체가 트라우마다”
이 목소리가 의료 시스템 안에서는 너무 쉽게 사소한 불편 정도로 취급돼왔다는 게 제일 답답함.
