On an emotional day at St. Cecilia’s we celebrated Èilis’ achievements on her retirement. For 21 years she has lead our school community with vision and purpose. We wish her a very happy retirement.

Our Action Team Partnership held a celebration of thanks today for everyone who supported us in making Carroll’s Way an amazing learning environment. We appreciate everyone who contributed and we hope you can see how this venture supports our students learning outside. Thank you.

We were delighted to wear #lotsofsocks for World Down Syndrome Day 2026.

World book day 2026. Thanks to our creative and curriculum committees who did an amazing job. It was great to see everyone bringing in the books that their characters were based on.

We were thrilled to welcome Anna Newell Theatre Adventures in conjunction with Riverbank Arts Centre and #hawkswelltheatre for a chilled out adventure “Up in the Clouds”. This spectacular immersive sensory experience was a huge success. Thank you to Anna and the Arts Council.

This morning the BOM announced the appointment of Janice O’Brien as the incoming principal of St. Cecilia’s School. We wish Janice every success in her new position.

Project Core learning was in progress today in Blue class. The interest was high as the students explored language using items of interest from balloons to aeroplanes. They used AAC devices, the interactive panel and pen and paper to participate in a fantastic lesson.

Our students were delighted to represent us in the rowing competition organised by Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership at the ATU Sligo today. We have been coached by Tony for the last few weeks and we were delighted to put into practice our progress. well done everyone.

Our Active School Flag student committee met today to discuss sports we like and dislike and to gather ideas for a slogan for our sporting activities. 3 options have gone to the school for a vote….stay tuned for an update when we get the results. #studentvoice #sligo

St. Cecilia’s has been a busy place with 2 ongoing projects. We have installed a new energy center, heating and electrical system throughout the building. Our third modular classroom has been installed and will be ready for our students when we reopen on Friday 29th August.
