Born today in Fishguard in 1886, Willie Thomas, who was Wales' only representative on the first British Isles Rugby Tour to Australasia in 1888, now recognised as the ' The first British Lions Tour!' Read about him in 'A Dragon Amongst Lions' on Playing Pasts.

@OfficialRTC We wouldn't be playing rugby if it wasn't for the referees that we have.

On International Womens Day it's good to remember the long history of women in Cardiff rugby, both playing and supporting. This photo was taken in 1917, the indomitable Ma Rosser of the Grand Hotel, in the back row. Read more here: cardiffrugbymuseum.org/articles/earli…

One of the most important aspects of St Helen's Archive is being able to share with the community. We thoroughly enjoyed presenting to Killay Probus Club at Dunvant RFC. Here we are with John Pearson, the Booking Secretary of the Killay Probus Group.

The Scottish gentleman in the middle of the picture was a keen rugby player... Meet Robin WELSH, Watsonian, 4 caps 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿1895-96, intl referee 1902-05, 46th SRU Président 1925-26 And still, in 2026, the oldest ever winter Olympic champion... as he won curling gold🥇in 1924 at 54 !

I would contend that curling is the greatest Winter Olympic sport that there is. Everything else is just filler. Pictured here is the British curling team during the Winter Olympics at Chamonix, France in 1924.
