🚨 Do you understand what Oracle just did..
they fired 30,000 people.. via 6 AM email.. while reporting a 95% increase in net income last quarter..
Oracle isn't a struggling company .. Oracle made MORE money than ever.. and still fired 30,000 people because they're spending $156 billion on AI data centres instead..
and Larry Ellison.. the guy who just fired 30,000 families.. is worth $200 billion.. the 3rd richest person on earth.. he owns an entire Hawaiian island.. Lanai.. 98% of it.. bought it for $300 million like it was a vacation home..
this is the same playbook every single time..
IBM fired 7,800 and replaced them with AI in 2023.. Amazon cut 27,000 the same year while reporting record revenue.. Atlassian cut thousands while profits climbed.. Google laid off 12,000 while sitting on $100 billion in cash..
they told you to learn to code.. you learned to code.. they told you to upskill.. you upskilled.. and then they replaced you with the thing you helped build and sent the termination letter before you woke up..
the company made record profits and decided the reward for that was firing the people who made it happen.

We’ve seen a lot of posts today from musicians talking about how tough things are right now — undersold tours, cancelled shows, albums struggling to land. It really does feel like uncertain times across the whole industry.
Even our own upcoming tour hasn’t escaped it. Two of our venues have closed their doors, meaning our Manchester show has moved to the Deaf Institute after the sad closure of 33 Oldham Street, and our Edinburgh date is now at Sneaky Pete’s after Legends was turned into something else entirely.
Times are hard. We feel it too.
Everyone has less money, and the world feels stranger by the week.
But this is exactly why the grassroots scene matters more than ever. Independent venues and promoters are the ones taking real risks — the people running the door themselves, hoping 50 tickets sold is enough to break even. The £9‑a‑pint arenas will be fine. It’s the independent rooms, the passionate teams, and the bands on the road who need the support.
We know how lucky we are to get to do this.
We love touring. We love seeing you there.
One day it’ll all be over — time moves fast.
So here’s the call to arms: if you can, show up. Support the bands you love. Back the venues that keep live music alive. Pack out the rooms, sing the words, and stand so close you end up blocking the singer’s feet with your pint on the edge of the stage.
Grassroots music survives when we all decide it matters. Our tour is on sale now, and so are a lot of others. Support the scene 💛 🤘

In 1951, a 14-year-old boy in Australia nearly died during surgery. He needed massive blood transfusions to survive. Strangers’ blood saved his life.
He made a promise. The moment he turned 18, he would start donating blood.
He kept that promise. He started donating in 1954. After the first few donations, doctors discovered something unusual. His blood contained a rare antibody that could be used to prevent a fatal condition in unborn babies.
Before this discovery, thousands of babies in Australia were dying every year and doctors did not know why. Women were having miscarriage after miscarriage. Babies were being born with brain damage. The antibody in his blood changed everything. It was used to create a medication given to pregnant women whose blood was at risk of attacking their unborn child.
His name was James Harrison. They called him “The Man with the Golden Arm.”
He donated every two weeks for over 60 years. He never missed a single appointment. He expected nothing in return. In Australia, blood donors are not paid.
He was terrified of needles the entire time. “I’ve never once watched the needle go into my arm,” he said. “I look at the ceiling. I look at the nurses.”
His own daughter needed the injection during her pregnancy. His grandchildren may not have existed without his donations. “He has left behind a family that may not have existed without his precious donations,” she said.
On 11 May 2018, at age 81, he made his 1,173rd and final donation. Australian law does not allow blood donations past that age.
More than 3 million doses of medication made from his blood have been given to Australian mothers since 1967. He is credited with saving the lives of 2.4 million babies.
He died peacefully in his sleep on 17 February 2025, aged 88.
Scientists have since grown his antibody in a laboratory, hoping it will one day protect mothers and babies around the world.

Scotland U21s international Tyler Fletcher, who was born in Manchester, says his dream is to beat his father Darren’s cap total of 80 for the national team:
“I want to get as many caps as I can for Scotland. They are the team I want to play for.
“It will always be Scotland over England for me.
“The aim for me is to have a career like my dad and beat his cap tally.
“My dad loves seeing me play for Scotland.”
Tyler’s twin brother Jack continues to represent England at youth international level.
The 19-year-old pair have both made their senior club debuts for Man Utd this season.
