The number of voices in and out of football currently saying the PL is broken grows weekly. Elite football has totally lost its way. It's being steered by people who NEED to be invested in every busted flush from VAR to countless Champions League matches. Everyone can see this

Still so many Chelsea supporters left in the ground. Why? It's 8-2. Fans have currency. Agency. To leave the ground empty would send a message to the owners/manager. Don't take us for granted. Loyalty is a powerful tool that can often work when it is withdrawn.

I know it's patently obvious but the crisis in Prem League teams is because they don't play for their clubs. They don't have to play for their fans. They just have to play for television. Money's made, myth propped up. Just a football content service industry.

"Elite" football sides winning any league or cup now is a bit like music artists who have number one records these days. People can just point back to the 70s/80s/90s and point out when it actually meant something.
