Addiction is a chronic medical condition, not a moral failing. Stigma and delayed treatment remain major barriers to care. Effective options include counseling, medication-assisted treatment, inpatient, outpatient, and telehealth support. “People deserve compassionate care and effective treatment,” said Dr. Adam Clements, Medical Director of the Office of Medical Education at Aspirus and Director of the Family Practice Residency Program.

Allergies or a cold? Key symptoms differ. Kenneth Yuk, a pharmacy resident with Aspirus Health, says itchy eyes point to allergies, while fever signals a cold. Choosing the right OTC medication depends on the symptoms, not just convenience.

“That glass of wine impacts more than cancer risk,” says Andrew Huang, MD, Radiation Oncologist at Aspirus Health. Alcohol’s leading health effects include organ damage and impaired judgment, while alcohol-related cancers contribute to thousands of deaths each year.

“I would want a survivor to know that they are not alone and that they are in control,” said Kari Rickert, RN, Aspirus Forensic Nurse.
