In our pre-Holy Week tidy up we unearthed a bag of flags that seem to match those in the photos from the service in June 1951 when the first stone was laid by the King of Norway to mark the start of the restoration of our beautiful medieval church after the Second World War.

Thanks to all who joined us yesterday for Choral Evensong followed by our first ‘St Olave Lecture’ in 40 years! Acclaimed botanist Roy Vickery spoke about Job Lousley, 'Botanist and Banker' who documented the flora he found amongst the rubble of bombed city churches like ours.

Thank you to Steve Duffle of SJD Signs for updating the Rectors’ Name Board in the church this week! Our record of our Rectors’ names goes back, in the case of All Hallows Staining, to 1258 and, in the case of St Olave Hart Street and St Catherine Coleman, to the early 1300s!

This week @PhillipDawson1 found this amazing photo. Remarkable that many memorials & the buildings surrounding the church survived the blitz. The restoration of this church 72 years ago is a miracle that continually inspires. Do visit & see for yourself! saintolave.com
