58 years ago today, on April 11, 1966, Emmett Ashford, the first Black umpire in #MLB history, made his debut in a game at D.C. Stadium.
The Washington Senators played the @CleGuardians, and Emmett was the third base umpire.
He quickly became a popular umpire, and well known for his enthusiasm and style.
