Super happy that my paper "Why Didn’t the Pre-Arrival Intervention to Combat Maths Anxiety Work?" is now available in the Journal of the Foundation Year Network! jfyn.co.uk/index.php/ukfy…

Freddie is helping me with marking. She wants to give everyone 100% and some tuna. Thank you, Freddie. ❤️

Absolutely HATE giving references where the system demands I compare the student against other students for academic "ability" (let's not get into that), motivation, etc... completely unfair and frankly dehumanising. Why can't we judge each student on an individual basis?

Several strike days are falling on my prep days but not teaching days, which means that I'm still in work for classes that I don't have that time to prep for. Also snowed under with marking. What's the usual protocol here? @ucuatdurham

@StaddonRachel @ucuatdurham We are having a general meeting on Thursday to discuss approaches to mitigation which will cover some of these issues & some departments have also held meetings about this. Are you on our branch organising slack? It's worth posting there to ask how people are addressing this.

@linguist1980 I did a single module on Evolution with the Open University about 11 years ago (when it was much cheaper) - great experience, loved it!

Update: she likes watching the cursor move. Only a matter of time until she tries to catch it.

Does anyone else get spam "publish your article with us!" emails about articles that are ALREADY published? Bizarre.

Feel like I've hit peak late twenties when I am genuinely excited about the heated airer I've purchased. Can't wait for my clothes NOT to smell of damp :)))))

Does anyone with a green thumb have suggestions for plants I can put in a pot in my yard, literally never touch again, and have them not die? The bigger and greener and foliage-y the better.

@Intylekt I always assumed flowers will immediately die if I go near them (I have a plant-killing aura it seems), but if these are hardy, I might give them a go!

@meganlbruce I am in Durham (ish)! Not heard of these before, but a quick google shows these look ideal, exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks Megan!

@StaddonRachel Not sure where you're based but leafy, hardy plants I've had in pots and ignored successfully in Durham include Fatsia japonica, Photinia Red Robin, and Mahonia.
