Unfortunate news to share this morning. The world has lost a great man. Jeff Thorne is now in Heaven. Thorne, who led his North Central College team to the 2019 National Championship, had been fighting stomach cancer. Today, Jeff rests in peace with his Lord and Savior. Hot take: “The Game” should be played on Halloween weekend from here on out Hear me out on this. With the B1G eliminating divisions, something should be done to avoid a scenario where both teams play each other in consecutive weeks. Putting it on Halloween weekend would be late enough into the year for necessary build-up and close enough to the end where the first result is still fresh for a rematch. It also means we could see a Michigan-OSU night game

@bmitchem33 @Jbooty88 It’s still the Wild West. Schools are using the NIL to pay recruits by dangerously dangling carrots of cash to come play for their school. That was certainly not the intent. There needs to be some oversight (not NCAA).

@Jbooty88 Very complex topic. There definitely needs to be some restructuring of NIL. What that means, how it’s determined, received and possibly limitations ? From a budgetary standpoint for competitive advantage. Can anyone explain how NIL per player is determined? Seems like by bidding

As a father- how would you feel if Your son worked for 40+ hours a week, punished his body and endured injuries, got recognized many times as one of the best at what he did, and helped create 9 figures of value. But after 4 years he’d, sure be debt free with an education. But he’d also have less than $500 in his bank account? Also what if that education said he cannot take classes from 1-7 pm year round, limiting his choice of majors. Education absolutely means something. But football has become massive business. Any human wants to be rewarded fairly for the value they create.

@Jbooty88 College Athletes should be paid, agreed. Here’s another take: a player leaves a school early (NFL or transfer portal) they repay tax payor dollars taken for scholarship. Every penny.
