@koalaqualia Sorry about your Covid case; hope you recover quickly. I am missing PSA this time, so I’m happy to see your poster here. Very interested in your project!
@Helenreflects Recalling something from David Hull’s Science As a Process to the effect of “there’s not much difference between publishing a paper and throwing it away.”
Seven years ago my son and I welcomed my husband into our lives. Today we celebrated our “famiversary” on our slow drive to take our 18 year old to college. @uchicago here we come!
@Helenreflects I wasn’t a philosophy major as an undergrad, but I did grad school at Johns Hopkins where Peirce spent his only three years of actual academic employment (and Dewey was one of his students). And I do teach it!
Reading Kent Staley's excellent work on unpacking the social epistemology of scientific groups today; his work has been so underappreciated in current discussions of collective justification, group belief, collective evidence, etc. Highly recommend!
New paper out. Kent Staley and I demonstrate how measurement uncertainty in particle physics can render circularity epistemically benign, and how this constitutes an in-practice solution to a form of Duhemian underdetermination. #OAsciencedirect.com/science/articl…
