When we empower one another with knowledge, we have better outcomes. So often ICWA gets blamed for these situations when in reality, it’s those institutions that are circumventing ICWA. It’s time for Indian Country to be more proactive on this front.

A hard lesson from a current case, many of our families don’t know how to navigate the state systems and ICWA until it’s really late and complicated. There is an opportunity for education here. We will work with partners to get that information to the public.
