In the future, you will also be able to strip down obsolete ships for parts when repairing them no longer makes sense. Thus, the technological chain of DISMANTLING is as follows: Ship -> Modules and Elements -> Components and Elements. Naturally, the DISMANTLING process does not guarantee a full return of materials—especially if you decide to scrap a ship at 25% integrity—but you will definitely get something out of it. :) Currently, DISMANTLING is the only known method in the galaxy to obtain Elements, which are essential for building new modules and ships. However, this is only temporary. Very soon, ELEMENT FUSION, a process recently discovered by scientists, will become available. For the first time since the emergence of the Void, the galaxy will witness the construction of ships with various configurations and specializations. These will complement or even replace the dwindling reserves of Exploration Ships, which were the only vessels saved by the races from the cosmic cataclysm. While the link between resources and races was forged over millions, perhaps billions of years, the impact of resources on specific ship characteristics was confirmed by scientists only recently. At first, it seemed that damage was uniform and occurred during the extraction of any resource, but further research has shown that the impact of resources is quite selective. To date, the following damage types sustained by ship modules have been classified: ORE: Engine, Warp, Defense, Cargo GAS: Navigation, Power, Defense, Cargo BIO: Support, Sensor, Defense, Cargo ICE: Repair, Weapon, Defense, Cargo Furthermore, a clear correlation has been established between damage and not only the safety level of the mining zone, as previously assumed, but also the category of the extracted resources. Rarer and more complex resources cause more severe damage. The only exceptions appear to be racial resources, where damage is significantly lower. It can now be stated with certainty: when extracting a racial resource, more is harvested, and ships sustain less damage.
