Court records show immigration attorney Hugo Balderas-Ibarra was indicted on a felony assault charge of family violence by impeding breathing and is currently out on a $20K bond.
According to the charging documents, a woman who was dating Hugo said they got into an argument at the airport in 2024 when he, “threw her luggage on the ground,” and when she went to pick it up he “grabbed her by her neck with his left hand.” She told investigators that when he noticed people getting close to them, he “squeezed harder and twisted her throat.” She said she was unable to breathe.
At the time he was already out on bail for felony kidnapping and battery charge in Seminole County, Florida, according to the court records
He is listed as licensed to practice with a “probationary license,” on the Texas State Bar website.

You describe the incident as "a bit delayed in driving forward." In America and most democracies, being blockaded by armed settlers and the IDF for 75 minutes (which no one disputes) would constitute detention/false imprisonment and the perpetrators arrested. Israel's response not understanding what rights are is almost more disturbing than the horrific incident itself witnessed by the NYT photographer, other Americans, and Israelis and confirmed by the Jerusalem Post, NYT, and Reuters.

Minnesota fraudster Zamzam Jama gets just six months for laundering nearly $500,000 stolen from a child nutrition program!
Zamzam Jama was part of a family scheme that stole $5.6 million from the federal Feeding Our Future program by falsely claiming to serve meals to children that were never provided.
She personally laundered around $491,000 of those funds and used some of it to buy a home and a Toyota RAV4, both of which have now been seized.
A federal judge sentenced her to just six months in prison and ordered her to repay the money, making her the first of several family members to be sentenced in the case.
This kind of slap-on-the-wrist punishment for stealing from a program meant to feed children only encourages more fraud and shows why taxpayers keep getting taken advantage of.
When will judges start handing down real sentences that actually deter people from looting government programs?
