Through this initiative, courts gain: • Practical security tools & updated best practices • Expert guidance grounded in real-world operations • Training to identify & respond to threats Safer Courts also aligns w/ the proposed Countering Threats and Attacks on Our Judges Act.

Courts are facing a rise in threats—and the response is clear: stronger, smarter, and more coordinated security. A major national initiative led by NCSC is now underway: Safer Courts. It helps state courts protect judges, staff, and the public.

Selected courts will work with NCSC experts in a year-long, hands-on process to identify operational challenges, observe workflows, and develop AI tools to improve court business processes. Apply by April 17, 2026. ncsc.org/opportunity/ai…

76% of state courts are limited jurisdiction courts serving local communities, and many face resource and technology gaps. To help address this, NCSC is launching a new initiative to bring AI-enabled solutions to rural courts and courts serving underrepresented communities.
