Every policy we debate here in the legislature represents real people. It’s not enough to just speak to what we need; we also have to build towards our hopes and dreams, no matter how impossible they seem.

This Lake Appreciation Month, I’m thinking about the work that needs to happen both in the water and at the Capitol. Protecting Wisconsin’s lakes means investing in clean energy and policies that protect the natural resources we all depend on.

Wisconsinites deserve a clean environment, healthy communities, and easy access to the ballot. This session I voted for a sustainable healthy environment and scored 100 percent in Wisconsin Conservation Voters’ Conservation Scorecard!

The government should not decide if, when, or how someone starts a family. We must protect abortion rights and expand access to reproductive care here in Wisconsin, now and in perpetuity.

Four years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, rolling back our constitutional rights. While abortion is legal in Wisconsin today, access remains vulnerable without permanent protection in state law.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health. Millions of people quietly struggle with anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, and stress every day, often without support or understanding.

Sometimes, as legislators, we stand outside the chambers and listen in to see if what Legislative Republicans are saying is just as ridiculous off the floor. It is.

We reject MAGA mimicry in Wisconsin. Donald Trump’s agenda can stay out — and so can any deal that falls short of our responsibility as legislators to the people of Wisconsin. I was proud to vote no.

What’s more, Wisconsin Republicans were calling this proposal the “big, beautiful, bipartisan bill,” a clear imitation of Donald Trump’s disastrous legislation that gutted Medicaid and threw working-class families under the bus.
