Definitely, you cannot manage what you cannot measure,”Rt. Hon. Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, Prime Minister (Omuhikirwa) of Tooro Kingdom, said. Furthermore he noted that partnership between UBOS and Tooro Kingdom will strengthen access to area-specific statistics across the Kingdom’s nine counties and support planning and decision-making. “This MoU demonstrates UBOS’ commitment to coordinating the National Statistical System through harmonized statistical production and efficient use of resources,” Dr. Chris N Mukiza, @UBOS_ED said. Delivering remarks during the dissemination of the Uganda Harmonized Integrated Survey (UHIS) Reports, Dr. Albert Byamugisha, Chairperson of the UBOS Board of Directors, and Chief Guest emphasized that the findings provide critical evidence for tracking Uganda’s progress in poverty reduction, employment, financial inclusion, and broader socio-economic transformation. He noted that the #UHISReports are an important tool for monitoring Uganda’s progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 on ending poverty, SDG 2 on food security and agriculture, SDG 5 on gender equality, SDG 8 on decent work and economic growth, SDG 9 on industry and innovation, and SDG 10 on reducing inequalities. He underscored the importance of timely and quality statistics in measuring progress and ensuring that no one is left behind. Dr. Byamugisha called upon Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Local Governments, development partners, researchers, academia, civil society, the private sector, and the media to actively utilize the reports in planning, budgeting, implementation, and monitoring of development programmes. #UBOS #DataForDevelopment #EvidenceBasedStatistics #UHISReport2025

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Mukiza informed stakeholders that the Uganda Business Inquiry Report 2023/24 was published on the UBOS website. This report provides information on gross output and value addition across formal and informal enterprises, supporting analysis of economic participation, labour market transitions and poverty dynamics. He thanked the public for the growing appreciation of statistics and reaffirmed UBOS’ commitment to producing quality, demand-driven data. He further announced that the Baseline Education Census 2025 Report will be released on 28/05/2026 and encouraged stakeholders to utilize UBOS reports to support planning, policy development and programme implementation. #UBOS #DataForDevelopment #EvidenceBasedStatistics #UHISReport2025
