It’s been very rare when you have seen rentals at the level of a Tarik Skubal
So it’s gonna take a big package
And I’d rather go quantity of quality personally

I included AJSS because I feel he has highest upside of any of our near MLB starters
And Tigers would as well
Thus you don’t get to put in another arm for him
The package to get him is gonna hurt to trade away

But I think I’m more open to a quantity over quality offer and spending it across strengths of our system to really go for it this year than previous years
Age of our core and uncertainty beyond this year plus system strength is why

We definitely have the capital. It wouldn't cripple our system like it would have years previous. But if that's the price, I need long term. I do not like high price rentals. But thats why I've been out on Skubal all year. There just wont be talking me into the price I know it will take. People say "what if he extends". He's a Boras client. He will want the bidding war.

I'm 100% out on all of that for a 2 month rental. But I am also insanely high on AJ, Alex, and Conor. AJ shows the potential to be a staple for a very long time. I love Waldrep, but I think AJ is a better pitcher. Lodise has long term glove and power and it all comes down to his hit, and Conor just destroys baseballs. Yes Tariq is generational, but getting him for three top 10 (AJ would be our top prospect if he was still a prospect) prospects is wayyy too much for a what if.

None of Ty Jerome, Cam Spencer, or two 1sts should be traded for Watson

Last night, I asked Walt, "Is there reason to be concerned about Suarez given it's been a month?" Walt's response: "I was hoping he'd be back by now. It's taken longer than we all thought, but we still feel like he's going to be a big part of this thing. It's just taken longer than anticipated." Walt added that he doesn't believe Suarez has progressed to the point of throwing a bullpen. So, it's going to take some time for him to ramp up.
