@BenSteiner00 @SI_FootballClub 7 minutes is no good. If you can’t make a determination within two minutes, the original call needs to stand. Anything beyond that and you’re just looking for reasons to overturn a call. We’ve gotten away from the original intent of video review which was to fix obvious errors.

The new daylight offside rule didn't really impact the first week of the Canadian Premier League, but the Football Video Support system did. FVS was used six times, overturned one call and had stoppages of up to 7 minutes. Story for @SI_FootballClub si.com/soccer/how-wen…

The video referee support needs tweaking. Not enough negatives for a wrong challenge means late in a game teams can just challenge anything as long as they have a card left. Personally thought both Ottawa challenges were weak (and both were wrong).

My thoughts on the new CPL rules after game 1: Offside rule didn't affect anything that game imo. Definitely going to be one where it takes getting used to by the players before the difference is noticeable (1/)

First CPL video challenge that's taking way too long. Again the ref should have 30 seconds to watch it in real time. If it's a clear and obvious error that's enough

@cvaghy @footballsaves Not getting out of the group would've been an embarrassment either way. But Bosnia is an easier matchup than Italy. Italy and Bosnia have played each other 6 times since 2019. Italy has won 4, drawn 1 and lost 1 on pens. To say they're better than Bosnia isn't controversial

Let's look back at the CF Montreal - Tornto FC trade that sent Jules-Anthony Vilsaint to Tornto and brought Matty Longstaff to Montreal on August 13 2025. Since then: Matty Longstaff 12 games 851 minutes 1 assist Longstaff has started 3 of 4 games for Montreal this season Jules-Anthony Vilsaint 7 games 174 minutes 1 goal Vilsaint has yet to play a game for Toronto this season.
