Truck after truck seen arriving at @Rosslareuroport this afternoon full of bawling calves. The first truck was seen at 14:15 and the ferry has just left, nearly 5 hrs later. How long have those calves already gone without feed? @StenaLineUKIE doesn't give a sh*t. #BanLiveExports

A shipment of young bulls arrived at Haifa port recently from Ireland after 10 days at sea. We've been sent shocking footage of them. Respiratory illness, diarrhoea, grazed knees, severe ringworm. Clear evidence of Ireland's high welfare standards. More to follow #BanLiveExports

Today, our volunteers found a beheaded piglet right outside our farm. It’s head was no where to be found. We’re guessing that this was done as an act of cruelty towards MLHR. If you passed the MoyValley area towards Clonard this morning & have a dash cam, please check if you recorded anything. To the cruel people who did this, intentionally to MLHR or not, it’s disgusting & cruel. 💔

@EmmaQuinlan Some of us work physical jobs so there are little or no health benefits from cycling. It is great if you lead a sedentary lifestyle though

@ethicalfarmIE ...if you look the amount of the electorate who care or claim to care about environmental or animal welfare issues, it's quite high. But for most of these people these issues rank lower down in terms of importance...

Shocking. Why do farming lobby groups have so much power & influence in govt? Is it because a large chunk of MEPs are farmers or have interests in farms? They'll soon be crying when our soils are depleted & there's no water to grow anything anyway. Maybe we can use their tears..
John Gibbons 🇵🇸@think_or_swim

As Europe burns, brilliant achievement by Agri-industry lobby in destroying #climate action, aka the only chance farmers have for a safer future. As our food production system crumbles, just remember who’s to blame.

@ethicalfarmIE ...if people really genuinely cared about environmental issues then Green parties would poll much higher across the western world. And with regards to animal welfare, while people get upset at seeing animal cruelty etc. I'm sure it almost never gets mentioned to a politician

@ethicalfarmIE I think it's because for farmers and farming families they decide who to vote for based solely on the various parties farming policies. It's the be-all and end-all for them because it affects their means of living...

EFI joined 15 NGOs in a complaint to @SKyriakidesEU on routine tail docking of pigs. Despite being banned 30 years ago the majority of pigs in 🇪🇺 are docked, 99% in 🇮🇪 The main issues are overcrowding & lack of proper enrichment. Please sign our petition 🐷bit.ly/3SKOf2f

The Phoenix Magazine@ThePhoenixMag·
IRISH MEPs Clare Daly and Mick Wallace have become unpopular with the ‘responsible’, mainstream media for their defence of Irish neutrality and foreign policy views on Ukraine and elsewhere that do not chime with the pro-Western and Nato line pushed by such as the Irish Times. Especially militant in pursuit of the duo has been the paper’s Europe correspondent Naomi O’Leary who got into a spat with the duo in 2022 when she conducted a major inquiry into their activities. The newspaper introduced her investigation at the time by saying, “A 10-month investigation by the Irish Times to track the international footprint of the two MEPs has revealed their outsized profile in the state-controlled media operations of various authoritarian regimes.” This 10-month research produced a number of statements from the couple denouncing western militarism and their contacts with apparently unsavoury people and entities that oppose the west. O’Leary returned to the defence of western civilisation this week with a report that accused the two MEPs of collaborating with Latvian MEP Tatjana Zdanoka who has been accused of working with Russian intelligence services. Unfortunately, O’Leary went too far and two days later the newspaper had to apologise for two incorrect allegations in her story. This correction stated that while Wallace and Daly “had appeared at events with Ms Zdanoka, they did not organise these events with her as was incorrectly stated in the article”. Undeterred, Naomi continued her coverage of the Irish MEPs the same day with further coverage of their activities in eastern Europe, some of which involved what she called “joint activities of Zdanoka with Wallace and Daly”. These activities, O’Leary wrote, “concerned the supposed persecution of Russian speakers and pro-Russian figures in bordering states”. See a profile of Daly and Wallace, including their media battles with such as O’Leary, in The Phoenix, May 5, 2022. Free to read: thephoenix.ie/article/profil…

@Conor1960 The black economy is where illegal immigrants work though? How would they work any other way without a PPSN? It is the same for Irish illegal immigrants in the USA for example. I'm not sure why you're so offended?

When a “journalist” thinks the “black economy” is where illegal immigrants work. I wonder why? The black economy is where Irish people charge cash rather than charge VAT. Then they don’t declare that cash for income tax.

@blues155 Just a gentle reminder: Since 1996, 265 women have died violently in the Republic of Ireland. Of the women that were killed: 63% were killed in their own homes.

Facts. 1. 3 billion euro a year in tax contributions from working foreign nationals. 2. 20% of our workforce are migrants. 3. There are jobs for every migrant who wants one. 4. There are rigorous checks carried by migration authorities. 5. Ireland is not full.
