@SteamRep Remove my scammer mark, I was phished. I've tried defending myself numerous amounts and on my third attempt where I actually try to gather evidence. I get told to keep quiet. These "previous attempts" this admin is referring to are from over 4 years ago. [1/2]

SteamRep isn't a part of Steam Support, we're just regular Steam users and volunteers

@SteamRep i dont know if you can do anything about my steam account but i got scammed and got logged out and i cant sign back in and they changed the email but i still have my stuff linked to it such as discord, and in my other account it says from the library of my other account

@Chino96574545 You should request help from Steam Support at help.steampowered.com. We can't help with this. Give Steam Support all the information you can remember about the account, and they should be able to figure it out even if the scammer changed everything.

@SteamRep my name on steam was Clinton, my discord name is clinton, my epic games name is clinton, everything is linked to my steam account and it shows proof that i owned the account. PS i also have screenshots of the scam if you need them @SteamRep

@ZVAARI Location has been deleted from that profile. Posting any manner of PII is against our guidelines and all admins know that. The admin who issued that tag, some time prior to 2011, left SteamRep long ago.

If you go to a site that asks for your Steam credentials, to be safe: don't login at that screen 1. Go to Steams normal site and login from there 2. You should then see the sign in option (see below) 3. If not, most likely the site isn't actually having you log into Steam (scam)

@tomwstocks @ProdigyDDK We don't post a warning based on number of reports alone. Scammers are known to doctor and mass-file reports out of spite towards victims who don't give up their items.

So... I took one for the team and scammed a scammer. ~$25,000 Ak-47 going back to its rightfull owner🏆 Say what you want, I think its the right thing to do🥺

@tomwstocks @ProdigyDDK If we can't prove that a scam happened, then we don't ban. Would you prefer if you got reported and banned with fake evidence because we were less strict? "No Special Reputation" doesn't mean "safe to trade with", and shouldn't be the only factor to decide if someone's a risk.

@SteamRep @ProdigyDDK Fuck your limmitations.. im out 6kusd from being scammed by someone who ended up having 7 reports against him. Your sites UI is complete trash. There was no warning on the profile page. The reports were more than sufficient and obvious after going through them.

@endiezyt Just to add: As explained in our thread, it's very possible to mean well when engaging in this kind of internet vigilantism, but end up stealing from someone innocent and giving it to a scammer. It's more important to understand WHY we take this stance, than WHAT our position is.

To add on to this (since I don't want to make another video) I don't think that people should replicate what Prodigy did. I hope that what he did doesn't result in possibly worse situations than this.

My thoughts about the Prodigy/Colosso 'scam' thing that happened recently

@tomwstocks @ProdigyDDK We don't give ANYONE a "pass" for scamming. We investigate what we're able to investigate, within our policy. forums.steamrep.com/threads/steamr… If someone scams, and it falls outside that policy, then sadly we can't ban them. That's not playing favorites, it's accepting our limitations.

@SteamRep @ProdigyDDK Steamrep give this man a pass. You gave a scammer who scammed me a pass after being reported 8 times and i was the one who finally got him banned after the scammer ripped off over 100k of items for btc /eth. The scammers probably a millionaire because of how bad sr is

@FoxHolio @ProdigyDDK Taking the trade to voice (or Skype, Discord, etc) is an age-old trick scammers use to cover their tracks, so Steam Support can't follow it. As a 3rd-party, we have even less access than Steam Support. Scammers could just say "that wasn't me" in their defense.

@SteamRep @ProdigyDDK Its interesting to me that bans cant be issued because it doesn't happen on steam. Even if the person has their steam linked, the item is traded to their account, and they have you add them. I never understand that disconnect.

@FoxHolio @ProdigyDDK If the conversation took place outside of Steam, then we'd theoretically need a PROVABLE way to tie it back to the same Steam ID, and a way of proving it wasn't altered. If the conversation happened over voice, there's no way to prove that's what was said, or it was the same guy.

@FoxHolio @ProdigyDDK We need 3 things to ban: 1. Proof of identity (not impersonated, etc) 2. Proof of items sent and not paid for (trade history, PayPal screens, etc) 3.
