New @SteamSentinels article from Caff DLC spam is quietly flooding @Steam's new releases - with some games listing dozens of expensive DLC packs with little explanation of what they even contain. Our latest piece looks at the growing issue and why Valve needs to address it. Read here: steamcommunity.com/groups/Sentine…

New @SteamSentinels article! @Steam is enforcing a trademark over the “Hidden Cats” micro-genre. Developers are scrambling to rename their titles. The dispute is still ongoing. @valvesoftware has poorly handled the claim, which is in itself anti-competitive, anti-developer and anti-consumer. Full article here: steamcommunity.com/groups/Sentine…

We're looking into this matter at @SteamSentinels, and we've also reached out to a copyright & trademark lawyer for advice. Anyone with further information on this, please do feel free to drop me an email at mellowonline1@gmail.com or drop me a message here on X.

Nukearts trademarked "Hidden Cats" in the USA and Valve has let me know I must change all my games' names until 2nd March or they will be removed from the Steam store.

Hey @Sark - just to clarify, Obey the Fist isn’t staff or moderation within Sentinels of the Store, just a regular member. The stream gave the impression of formal association, which isn’t the case. A brief clarification would be greatly appreciated to avoid confusion. Thank you

Hey @Sark, Just wanted to respectfully clarify something from the recent stream. Obey the Fist is not staff, a moderator, or formally affiliated with @SteamSentinels beyond being a regular member. We don’t control or endorse the conduct of individual reviewers on @Steam. Because of the size of your audience, the association may unintentionally give the impression that he represents our group in an official capacity, which isn’t the case. I’d really appreciate a brief clarification at some point to avoid that confusion. Thank you.

New @SteamSentinels article! @Steam has landed on the front page of @guardian. Developers are speaking out about bigoted reviews, curator campaigns, and what they describe as inconsistent moderation on the platform. It raises serious questions about scale, transparency, and where criticism ends and harassment begins. steamcommunity.com/groups/Sentine…

The @SteamSentinels community are awesome. Even in my absence, we've still seen people joining our group in large quantities. Let's make @Steam better.

Really strong article from @OreateAI on censorship and information control on @Steam. It captures something that often gets lost in these discussions: censorship isn’t always loud bans or obvious takedowns - it’s disappearing threads, revoked keys, flagged reviews, and erased conversations that leave no public trace. That’s exactly why documentation matters. When discussions are removed, having an external record of what was taken down and why becomes essential for transparency and accountability - which Oreate AI kindly lists our group @SteamSentinels as a great resource for that. Well-argued, thoughtful, and an important contribution to the wider conversation around platform power and developer moderation practices. oreateai.com/blog/when-the-…

Hi @TimSweeneyEpic, I wanted to flag something for awareness. A developer with multiple titles currently available on the @EpicGames Store - Atomic Fabrik - was removed from @Steam in 2024 following extensive community-documented abuse of Steam’s systems. I fully appreciate that actions taken on Steam do not automatically apply to Epic, but I believe the historical context is relevant. Atomic Fabrik was documented as: • Purchasing fake reviews to inflate Steam aggregate scores • Increasing prices post-inflation to meet third-party bundle thresholds • Exploited Steam’s pricing and rating mechanics once those thresholds were reached • Operating dozens of sockpuppet identities (60+ documented) The typical pattern observed was: Release low-effort / asset-flip title → artificially inflate reviews → raise price → monetise via third-party key bundle sites. TL;DR video summary: youtube.com/watch?v=ZRklKo… Detailed documentation: steamcommunity.com/groups/Sentine… Sockpuppet documentation: steamcommunity.com/groups/Sentine… Atomic Fabrik also published a (since deleted) X thread blaming reporters for their Steam removal: archive.is/k86F0 I’m not asserting current rule violations on Epic, nor calling for automatic removal - only sharing prior, well-documented behaviour so Epic can make an informed assessment if it deems appropriate. Thanks for your time.

Sorry for the silence on my part. Been pretty busy IRL, and I'm also battling the worst headache and nausea I've had probably in my life, which has been a major hurdle for me in making anything @SteamSentinels related. I'll get back to it as soon as I'm back in shape.

If you care about preserving the integrity of @Steam's user reviews, 2026 is a year where meaningful progress can happen. @SteamSentinels is committed to documenting review manipulation and supporting evidence-led action. The press is starting to take notice as well. A great write-up from @coinnoin en.techinbengali.com/steam-review-m… Progress depends on community participation.

We promised 2026 would be the year we would tackle review manipulation head-on. We're keeping to that promise, and the results are already showing just 4 days after this commitment. This is just the beginning. Review manipulation has no place on @Steam.
Mellow_Online1@MellowOnline1

Our plan is working! @Steam has banned ~500 Obzor reviews, and a couple of prolific Obzor reviewers have received community bans - including Obzor's owner. We'll continue working with Steam where we can and work to keep our community informed on review manipulation.
