Of yeah. No game is for everyone. But I expected the reception to be all over the place due to the lack of cohesion from them trying to cram too many systems in an open world, which is complex as is. Issues were inevitable. That's why I'm gonna give them a year to iron everything out before playing it.

@SteamTrader Basing off of reviews. The game isn't for everyone, of course, because controls are quite.. something LOL Although, it's imagine cooking RDR2 and Witcher 3 and out of the oven, is Crimson Desert

I’ve been cautiously optimistic for Crimson Desert from the start. It looked to me like a big salad of too many systems without clear and solid direction. It currently sits at 66% positive on Steam, which is what I expected. I will personally give it a year before playing,

Certainly. And yes they are, although Sony needs to cater to PC properly. They don't have regional pricing which is a must on Steam, most games do. They had also blocked off 145+ countries and regions from buying PS games on Steam, not sure if they fixed that. But those didn't help.

@LoochyTV The issue is that many gamers treat scores like a mathematical certainty. Ultimately, reviewers are people with their own subjective experiences. Easy solution is to follow the advice of those who usually enjoy the same things you do, not treat scores like a universal truth.

@SteamTrader @JonDenton There's no proper end game loop of anything right now. You're either left killing arc to craft things to kill arc just because....or kill people to take their goop to kill more people. There's no internal driver within the game to play once you hit your 3 mil for expedition again

I play around 2-3h a night, more on weekends. The expeditions are precisely designed for the hardcore, not casuals. Casuals don't care about having to redo everything for 5 skill points. This is something only bleeding edge players would care for. The proof is in the pudding, only 10-15% are joining and casuals complain it isn't worth it. Like I already said. Either way nothing about what I asked is tailored to hardcore, I'm just saying they have enough content in the game as is, they need to focus on making the incentives better cause nobody is engaging with a lot of it, neither the casuals nor the hardcore players. Lots of missed opportunity.

@SteamTrader @DirtyBirdDyno @JonDenton dude i did some math. you spend nearly 18% of your life on Arc Raiders. 4.25ish hrs a day. On a work day w/a normal sleep schedule that would leave less than 4 hours a day for every other activity. the game should not be designed to cater to outliers like you its a crazy ask

@SteamTrader All they need to do is put some of the cosmetics they are selling as a prize for the trials/expeditions and not behind a paywall. Create more tactical cosmetics that attract more FPS players. Make exclussive PvP trials with their own cosmetics to bring in those that hate PvP.

My issues with ARC Raiders after 600hours. There are plenty of pros, this game is a gem on so many levels. However, I see a trend that isn't promising. There is almost disregard for any long term incentive systems. PvPvE extraction puts it in a weird place. It's neither a PvP centric extraction with forced wipes, which refreshes the experience, like others. Nor is it like FINALS, or PUBG which has its established self-sustaining PVP loop (almost no content needed there). And Embark seems to pull their inspiration from all those. The difference for ARC is, It doesn't have a PVP loop, there are no in-game PVP objectives. And the PVE loop which is great, is HIGHLY dependent on streamlined content. They can neither produce enough content for the PVE loop, nor can they fall back on a PVP loop to keep retention. Which makes this game extremely dependent on seasonal filler. So far those have only been Trials and Expeditions, both of which are lacking in a major way. They need to keep players engaged while they work on new content. Their Achilles Heel, is that they opted for optional wipes. Without forcing them, they cannot buy themselves enough time to produce the next piece of content. Which leads me to Expedition incentives. For the system to work as is, they desperately need to incentivize most players, especially those who consume content fast, to do the Expeditions. It is, after all, the core of an extraction shooter. Without it, players are left sitting on their hands in between content drops. And that's when they find something else to play and often end up not returning. The momentum is severed. This brings me to my initial concern, I feel like Embark is not fully conscious of this relationship, perhaps lots of new players are skewing their data. If Expeditions, (and to some extent trials and hopefully new seasonal content) are not FAR more incentivized with fantastic rewards, we will end up in a stagnation. So far, there has been no effort whatsoever to do just that. In fact, it seems the opposite is true. While developers had recently promised to work on Expeditions, based on the below post, they will be offering the same underwhelming rewards as they have been in Expedition 3, down to the same outfit. I worry that they will only realize how this can become an issue for retention, when the downtrend becomes irreversible. The game will certainly not die, not what I'm suggesting, but it will lose a lot of its retention potential and players. I hope the folks over there, zoom out and look at a few months down the line, and consider the long term retention strategy. For now Expeditions are the only pillar this game has, and as such need to be properly incentivized. It has been treated like the least important aspect of the game, while it's the most vital one of them all, and one on which every other change or addition will depend on.

🛠️ Attention, Raiders! We've just rolled out a fresh hotfix to address some issues introduced in this week's update: • Fixed different instances of client and server crashes. • Fixed several server performance issues. • Fixed certain instances where crouch was skipping the recovery time after a dodge roll, which will also impact the Il Toro. • Fixed some Patchwork customization items displaying before they should, it may take some time for it to take effect. Please note that the image of the Patchwork outfit for the second Expedition has an incorrect bandolier toggle, which will be introduced later as the third Expedition reward. Restart your client to download, see you topside, Raiders!

@JustEggsBro @JonDenton Stella is a fantastic map, all of them are in fact. Amazing sandboxes, but they do need proper incentives tied to activities in them. Even if it's just PvP. The game offers a great experience but not a compelling reason to repeat it.

Yes that's coming in April. But think of how many awesome systems they have in the game, puzzles like baron husk, deforester, events like hidden caches and others, and so much else that barely anyone engages with because there is no incentive to. They have the amazing content, just not enough reason to engage with it.

I agree. My criticism isn't of Expeditions, it's their incentives that are the issue. And this is an issue with casual players who make up the overwhelming majority of the playerbase. None of it is meant for hardcore. Only about 10-15% of players are engaging with the Expeditions, with the majority claiming that "it's not worth it, I'll do them when the rewards are better". And this is the case for a lot of the other content. From big to small, it seems like a lot of the fantastic content they have is not properly incentivizes. They need to get most casuals on board with expeditions, to keep them in the loop and gives themselves time to come up with new content.

@SteamTrader @DirtyBirdDyno @JonDenton One of your biggest criticisms is actually one of the greatest strengths of arc raiders: expeditions. It’s the perfect way to employ a wipe without punishing casuals. The amount of players who can put 500+ hrs into a game in 4 months is outlier shit u can’t balance for them alone

That's always been the case for every game, besides very niche ones. The overwhelming majority of players are casuals who are swayed by general sentiment and marketing/scores. COD is a perfect example of that, it's as flat a game as can be, with about 60% of budget going to marketing. And it works like a charm with the large casual playerbase.

@scully1888 I do. This is a textbook case of a ‘sell the news’ event, and has nothing to do with scores. It would’ve happened even if it was 10s across the board. Very common in stock trading.
