@longUSAinvestor @Microinteracti1 Depends on what you call a win. I stand with the men and women Trump sends to fight this war, but I do not support the reason for them still being there.

No serious nation in the history of warfare has spent fourteen months insulting its allies, siding with their common enemy, and then knocked on their door expecting them to rescue a catastrophe of its own making. You abused the UK. Threatened Canada. Tried to grab Greenland. Called the EU an adversary. Praised Putin. Hosted Kremlin officials in the Capitol. Abandoned Ukraine. And did all of it loudly, proudly, and on camera. And now you are surprised that nobody is returning your calls. You want European boots on the ground? Start by explaining why America is more aligned with Moscow than with Brussels. Take your time. We will wait. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

The Europeans are not dealing with “a man.” They are dealing with the United States of America. The United States needed the most innocuous kind of cooperation from them. They denied the United States that cooperation. The implied argument is that their obligations within our alliance depend on whether they like the guy we chose as our president. “Sure, we’re allies…if we approve of who you elected.” Nope. We are not going to forget, and we’re not going to forgive. I’m indifferent to their excuses or their rationalizations. The United States of America needed their help and not very much help. They turned us down. That changes everything. And they aren’t going to like how it changes everything.

Every time someone criticises the quality of our politicians, conservatives fire back with ‘but the country’s still a mess.’ What mess exactly? Australia has universal healthcare. Free public education. A minimum wage. Compulsory superannuation. One of the highest standards of living on earth. We are not at war. We are not in famine. We are not living under authoritarian rule. By virtually every global measure, Australia is one of the best countries on earth to be born into. That didn’t happen by accident. Are there real challenges? Yes. Housing affordability is a genuine crisis. Cost of living is hurting people. Those are legitimate issues that deserve real policy responses. What they don’t deserve is being weaponised by people who have no intention of solving them. Because ask yourself — when did you last hear Hanson or One Nation offer an actual successful, budgeted policy solution to housing? To cost of living? Not a grievance. Not a target. An actual successful policy. Their entire business model is convincing you the country is a disaster so you stay angry enough to vote for them. Scared people don’t ask hard questions. Trump still has “concepts of a health plan” -while the entire country can’t afford healthcare. Every foundation that makes Australia great was built by progressive governments, opposed at every turn by conservatives. Medicare. Superannuation. The NDIS. The minimum wage. The National Apology. The two biggest back-to-back budget surpluses in history after inheriting a trillion dollars of Liberal debt. A decade of Coalition government gave us Robodebt. Sports rorts. A delayed national integrity commission. And a senator found guilty of racially vilifying a PhD engineer. The country isn’t a mess. But we will be when the people running it have no idea what they were doing

Someone asked me to name a politician with a background relevant to their portfolio in response to my critique of Pauline HANSEN’s appalling performance in Parliament. Here’s just a few: Jim Chalmers — Treasurer. PhD in Political Science & International Relations (ANU). First class honours in public policy. Former Chief of Staff to the Federal Treasurer. The only minister with a PhD across two parliaments. Inherited a massive Liberal deficit — delivered the two biggest back-to-back budget surpluses in Australian history. First consecutive surpluses in nearly 20 years. Michelle Rowland — Attorney-General. Senior telecommunications lawyer at Gilbert + Tobin before parliament. Mark Butler — Health & NDIS. Arts/Law degree. Led health and aged care policy across multiple governments. Former union secretary representing healthcare workers. Dr Anne Aly — Small Business & International Development. PhD in counter-terrorism. Professor at two universities. 100+ published academic papers. Founded Australia’s first anti-extremism NGO. Advised the UN Security Council. Spoke at Obama’s White House counter-terrorism summit. Also ran her own policy consulting firm — actual small business experience. Daniel Mulino — Assistant Treasurer. PhD in Economics from Yale. Larissa Waters — Greens leader, Environment. Bachelor of Science + Law. Environmental lawyer for a decade before parliament. Dr Mehreen Faruqi — Greens. Civil engineer with a PhD. Practising environmental engineer before politics. David Shoebridge — Greens, Justice. Honours Law degree, Sydney University. Former barrister and solicitor. Family Court associate. Directly relevant to his justice portfolio — and one of the few senators actually holding the government to account on arms exports to Israel. David Pocock — Independent ACT Senator. Masters in Sustainable Agriculture. Former Wallabies captain. Conservationist. Co-founded multiple not-for-profits. Involved in small businesses. One of the most effective crossbenchers in the Senate. Pauline Hanson — self-appointed expert on immigration, Islam, Indigenous affairs, and everything else. Ran a fish and chip shop. Found guilty by the Federal Court in 2024 of racially vilifying Dr Mehreen Faruqi — a PhD engineer — by telling her to ‘piss off back to Pakistan.’ Currently appealing the decision. I’ll take the qualifications thanks

If there is an increase in antisemitism in Australia, Jewish people only have to listen to the NPC presentation from the Israeli ambassador to understand why. Most actual Australians were nauseated and disgusted by his lies and hate speech.

Fucking cowards in England and Australia slithering out today in unison like the spineless fucking cucks they are. Look at these gutless wonders, too fucking terrified to stand for anything real. Spineless jellyfish with no balls, no backbone, just a collective circle jerk of weakness. England and Australia, both bending the knee in perfect sync like the pathetic beta bitches they've become. Disgusting. Absolute fucking cowards, every last one of you. The world sees you for what you are: soft, sniveling, spineless cucks who couldn't grow a spine if it was handed to you on a silver platter. Hide in your safe little islands, you worthless pricks. History will remember you as the generation that folded like cheap lawn chairs. America will never forget! Pathetic. Absolutely fucking pathetic.

Albo just isn’t the leader for crisis. It’s painfully obvious. Unresponsive, reactive, diminished by every utterance. First Bondi and now a fuel crisis. Leadership like this leaves the country exposed and vulnerable.

@SteedmanRod @matt_barrie That was my first choice, many moons ago. Knocked back for medical reasons. We should spend much more on the ADF than we currently do. Cutting the NDIS to people who actually need support - the significantly or profoundly disabled - would free up tens of billions.

I am a Vietnam Veteran and thinking of Anzac Day coming up. Do you think people will think less of us veterans with all the mass killings going on in the Middle East? I once thought that human life was valued by our side. Not these days it seems.

@DrCraigEmerson @SuDharmapala @RBAInfo Can someone explain to me why the Reserve Bank punish the people least likely to cause inflation and the most likely to find it difficult to pay their mortgage and struggle to fill their cars with fuel have to pay the price. In the meantime the most wealthy get a boost.

Unemployment is already 4.1% - not low. World oil price hikes will slow the economy further. The @RBAInfo can’t influence the price of oil. There is no wages breakout. Yet the cash rate has gone up. Wrong move.
