The Danger of Cynicism as it Concerns Voting - The Performance of a Civic Responsibility. One of the most damaging effects of voter apathy is cynicism — the belief that all politicians are the same and that participation is meaningless. While frustration with governance may be justified, cynicism can become self-defeating. When citizens stop voting because they believe the system is broken, they unintentionally make it easier for corrupt political actors to dominate the system further. Non-participation rarely weakens bad leadership; more often, it strengthens it. The refusal to vote does not punish politicians nearly as much as it weakens democratic accountability. Voter apathy is not politically neutral. It benefits those already in power by reducing accountability, weakening public oversight, and making electoral manipulation easier. A disengaged electorate creates the conditions under which corruption, abuse of power, and poor governance can thrive. On the other hand, active civic participation strengthens democracy. Voting allows citizens to assert their collective power, hold leaders accountable, minimize opportunities for rigging, and protect democratic institutions from decay. Democracy survives not merely because elections exist but because citizens participate in them. The right to vote is one of the most important safeguards against tyranny and political impunity. When citizens neglect that responsibility, they risk surrendering the very power needed to shape their future. Ultimately, governments may function with voter apathy, but democracies can not flourish under it. Get your PVC and play your part in ensuring the government stays accountable by voting.

How did one man hold power for eight years, preside over the disappearance of $12.4 billion, build Africa's most sophisticated system of political corruption, annul the freest election his country ever held, and retire to a mansion without ever being prosecuted? #Powerandplunder

INEC gave the APC the login to their database. Wike’s assistant has revealed how they shut down the IREV. They are running INEC at the backend. Joash Amupitan is compromised! Any result he declares will be REJECTED! INEC will set Nigeria on fire. Mallam El-Rufai is in detention. He was arrested for allegedly tapping the cell phone of the NSA. Wike’s assistant has committed a much heavier crime. Lere Olayinka has compromised INEC server. If Lere is not immediately picked up by the DSS for publishing a classified information, then Nigerians will take it that INEC is working for the APC. In the meantime, Professor Joash Amupitan MUST tender his resignation. This is the second time he has been caught showing his partisanship & obvious bias. Amupitan is in close association with the APC. INEC is far from independent. Delaying the inevitable would only lead to events that may jeopardize the fragile demoCrazy in Nigeria. A compromised umpire cannot conduct a general election. People should know when to quit! 😡

Leadership is a voluntary thing & there is no joy when those who do or seek it for the right reasons get denied repeatedly. But that is when they seek it for the right reasons. When @OvieOmoAgege burgled the mace of @SenateNGR to prove his readiness to do anything for @OfficialAPCNg, he hardly reckoned with a week like this past one. In one week, he has been constructively booted out of the #APC & lost 2 Senate primaries in 2 different parties - one to a man; another to a woman. The irony of it all is that Omo-Agege is arguably the person who gave the APC a credible chance in Delta State. For many who have grown fat on the humbug of #Nigerian power, the #TinubuSystem is handing out rewards indiscriminately. It is a rude reminder of the transience of power. ourheritagereporters.com.ng/dema-defeats-o…

Let me EXPLAIN something, to those who think this is a JOKE⚠️‼️ The screenshot you see here, was posted by @OlayinkaLere, Wike’s aide. It was taken from an admin-“ONLY” backend cvradmin.inecnigeria.org/applications_m… This is an access to Full application details including internal status notes, quality checks, full VIN, photo, residential address, polling unit, etc. These information are not publicly available. Citizens cannot browse or search other people’s applications⚠️ Only authorized INEC officials have access to the “Admin-Only” backend, and this level of detailed application information on the INEC server, specifically via the admin portal cvradmin.inecnigeria.org Access to cvradmin.inecnigeria.org/applications_m… from which Lanre took this screenshot requires login credentials, and is restricted to INEC personnel with appropriate privileges like Electoral Officers, RECs, or designated admins handling applications. Here’s another catch The INEC systems like IOMIS and ERMS use role-based access controls. What this means is simple. Different INEC staff see only what’s relevant to their jurisdiction or duties. So how did Lanre, who is not even an adhoc staff of the INEC get clearance to login to their server. @inecnigeria we need an answer ‼️ Any Nigerian citizen can check basic voter registration status, track their own applications e.g., voter transfer, updates, PVC replacement, or verify details like polling unit using public tools on the CVR portal cvr.inecnigeria.org. Even to do this, You typically need to login with your email, fill in your VIN, name, date of birth, etc, to view your own info. What LANRE, APC, WIKE, TINUBU & INEC just did, is a breach of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and related regulations‼️ Nigerians Wake the fuck up, these guys are toiling with our future And we are all calm This is a declaration of War If APC and INEC wants war, or a R£volution, >>>>>🤷‍♂️ _Manjul Vic

@jaeyerlive @VictorManjul @OlayinkaLere @inecnigeria As it is now, we should even be considering bringing a class action against inec - all of us who are registered voters are at the same risk of data breach. The judiciary can not single handedly do it on their own. We must place something before them.

It's not surprising... if support is not organic, it can be easily swayed. The highest bidder will get it for a time until a better bidder shows up. They can't pretend to be completely loyal or grounded in their belief in a candidate. The bidder might assume they can not be bought. That's not the impression they are trying to convey.
Blessed Frank@obidient_child

Atiku has the most useless fanbase/supporters. Some days they support Atiku, some days they support Jonathan and some days they support Tinubu and Amaechi. They're very useless

Of the 200M Nigerians we can account for, 140M people are now statistically poor. As you go to church today, remember, prayer does not fix a broken country; governance does. And prayers do not elect a better president, your vote does.

In other words, Nigerians should ignore present realities in exchange for perpetual promises about the future. Three years into the administration, millions of Nigerians are poorer, food prices remain crushing, insecurity persists, and purchasing power has been severely eroded. A "long game" that leaves us unable to afford basic necessities is not visionary leadership—it is a policy choice whose human cost can not be dismissed. Future generations matter, but so do the current generation struggling to survive. Good leadership is measured not only by promises of tomorrow but by tangible improvements in the lives of people today today. Nigerians can not be expected to endlessly sacrifice for a future that remains just out of reach while their present deteriorates before their eyes and Tinubu stays living large on taxpayerss' money buying yacht, private jets and going off grid while Nigerians lack stable electricity... is that also part of the long game? Àwọn aláwàdà.
Ekiti Princess 🇳🇬@Eyeofnigeria

The reason some of us are unwavering in our support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu is simple: we owe it to future generations not to squander the opportunity of having a leader with his experience and political capacity at this critical moment. Leaders who are willing to play the long game, take difficult but necessary decisions, command the political class, attract competent technocrats, and pursue reforms despite the political cost do not come around often. History may judge us harshly if we fail to support and amplify a leadership we believe is laying the foundation for a stronger Nigeria. For some of us, this is bigger than politics; it is about the future generations that will inherit the country we leave behind.
