STOP 🚫​🙅🏻‍♂️​with the current Pokémon tournament registration system. It’s genuinely making people lose the desire to compete. Play Points already exist, so why not use them to give registration priority to the players who actually support the circuit and play consistently? And why are we still relying on such limited caps? Why not run a pre-registration first, measure demand, and then secure venues that are actually appropriate for the number of players? This is the third time this year I’ve failed to get into a tournament in Europe. And to make it worse, these events keep being hosted in cities that are inconvenient for most people traveling in.

Circa sei mesi fa, Cydonia, nome d'arte di Francesco Cilurzo, ha fondato uno studio di sviluppo videoludico che si chiama Nara Studio. Ieri è stato annunciato il primo progetto su cui lavoreranno: un, cito, "monster collector roguelite", che prova a tenere insieme diverse anime e diversi generi. Nel teaser precedente, Cydonia aveva detto di voler valorizzare i talenti che sono presenti in Italia e che spesso vengono poco considerati. Sullo stato dell'industria videoludica italiana hanno già scritto altre persone. Ed è vero che c'è una mancanza strutturale, specie quando si parla di realtà piccole o indipendenti. Il videogioco di Cydonia e Nara Studio si chiama Wonderful Neoran Valley. E nella giornata di ieri, insieme al trailer di presentazione, è stata lanciata anche una campagna Kickstarter per supportare i costi e le spese del suo sviluppo. Ecco, in dieci minuti l'obiettivo della campagna (100mila euro) è stato raggiunto. In questo momento siamo intorno ai 506mila euro. Per carità: questi soldi possono sembrare pochi, specialmente se paragonati al budget di produzioni internazionali. Però mettiamo in prospettiva le cose. E soprattutto consideriamo il contesto in cui ci troviamo. Wonderful Neoran Valley nasce dal basso, con aspirazioni precise e abbastanza concrete. Ora che i fondi hanno assunto altre dimensioni, forse cambierà qualcosa. Ma giustamente Cydonia e Nara Studio ci sono andati con i piedi di piombo. Al progetto collaborano anche altre realtà, tutte più o meno legate a Internet e a un'idea specifica di editoria e di divulgazione: RoundTwo e Tomodachi Press. E questo, più di tutto, ci dice qualcosa. Ci dice che tra content creator e appassionati si sta creando una rete di sinergie e professionalità capace di sostituirsi all'industria più mainstream. Nonostante i risultati, la campagna di Wonderful Neoran Valley non è finita su nessuna testata nazionale, solo su giornali di settore (o almeno, così mi sembra). È l'ennesima dimostrazione dell'incapacità di una parte d'Italia di leggere quello che succede in altri ambienti e con altri pubblici. Pubblici che, ci ricordano i numeri della campagna Kickstarter, sono pronti a partecipare attivamente.
