@JezminQ @WrightMath314 @MrsGallardo1 I love the idea of leading by example. I am a big believer of this and I tend to practice it daily, especially in the classroom. Leading by example is the best way to show students we truly mean what we say.

@WrightMath314 @MrsGallardo1 A3: As a teacher, I plan to create a safe space by establishing my rules and expectations. I will lead by example. I also want to create an environment that students feel brave by embracing new challenges. @MrsGallardo1

@WrightMath314 @MrsGallardo1 We can be advocates for our students by listening to our students and always supporting them in everything- in the good times and, especially in difficult times. We can be the person who they can seek for help whenever they have no one else.

@WrightMath314 @MrsGallardo1 I will create a safe space for all students by making them feel welcomed everyday, treat them equally, and have them check in with me throughout the day to let me know how they are feeling and address those feelings when needed.

@WrightMath314 @MrsGallardo1 To have empathy means to be aware of other people’s feelings and emotions. It means being sensitive to how they are feeling by trying to be understanding and caring.

@WrightMath314 @MrsGallardo1 @joboaler A5. One of the many benefits of Number Talks are a great tool to help develop number sense for students and builds problem solving skills. Kids are able to see the multiple ways a problem can be solved, and they can share their perspective with other peers.

@WrightMath314 @joboaler @MrsGallardo1 We can encourage number flexibility by relating numbers to real life situations and using their background knowledge. Manipulatives helps give them a good visual to understand how they can manipulate the numbers to solve the problem. And reducing any anxiety towards math.

@WrightMath314 @MrsGallardo1 @joboaler Reasons for math anxiety are students believing that if they are not able to get the answer fast they are not smart enough. Also, timed tests causes students to feel stress and pressure not allowing to think clearly

@WrightMath314 @MrsGallardo1 @joboaler Memorizing math facts does not enable students to make connections or think deeper about math. Memorization takes away the ability to think about numbers, takes away the ability think about the different strategies available, and takes away the ability implement these strategies.
