@idummkopp South Korea forest cover was only 35% after the Korean war. This has almost doubled thanks to government-led reforestation. This was a very intentional policy, and you can see the difference in North Korea if you Google images of the landscapes in both countries

@whittledaway Like Japan, South Korea for many years used wood which it importet from several countries instead of cutting down their own trees.

Yet 64% of South Korea is forest!

@Weeney @aidojones The days when vastly more kids died on the roads? We managed to get those numbers down... And now those numbers are creeping back up due to things like stupidly sized truck-cars

@aidojones Or we could just get back to the days when parents took parental responsibility. Novel idea I know in these challenging times where we have a massive growth spurt of adult children.

This one old house in Dalkey, has become more housing, 90+ apartments. Far better use of land near a town/village and public transport 👏👏👏

@SeanDubIreland @jjsalmo @adrianweckler You're not exactly using a fair comparison here. One of the most expensive ways to charge your car, plus you incurred an overstay charge that added 25% onto the bill. Even after all that, I'd say the EV would probably still come out marginally cheaper

I post these because car brands won’t. VW ID3 electric ‘range’ — 424km Dublin to Cork — 260km Actual range for me today, from 100%, driving under speed limit — 233km (56% of advertised range) I barely made it to Fermoy at 225km, 5% left (chargers in Cashel full, with queues)
