My mom wanted to read law in the 1980s... was transferred to education. She became a teacher... D she still had that passion, went back to OAU law in 2016, graduated in 2024 (strike and corona issues) was called to bar 10 days before she was 60. 30 is not too late for a dream.

So I went to the bank and this guy at the bank wouldn’t take his eyes off me, so I tried to look at him for few seconds and we made a very funny eye contact, I smiled and he walked up to me, helped me figure my complaint and also complimented my perfume, he got my number, he text later that day and he added “you don’t look like someone that stays in Nigeria” I asked him why he said that, he replied “the way you smell, the way you talk and all” immediately I told this guy I am based here and I also stay at ipaja, his reply was “okay” For the past 3days, this guy hasn’t said a word to me 🤣🤣🤣

I have started learning the local dialect of this place. If you get too much pride for body, you no fit learn new language. You must shamelessly speak bad grammar and receive correction and plenty laughter and ridicule😂. Sometimes I speak bad french and feel like an idiot for the moment, and I go again.

I’ll tell you somethings about Northern Nigeria. The North is blessed with too many natural aphrodisiacs. I have a friend who lived most of his life down to adulthood in the north, he’s from Jos. He once told me that it was until he left the north and entered the south for greener pastures that he heard about the issue of people looking for children, especially married people. He said in the north, if you laugh too much with a woman, she might get pregnant. The East, West and South are the reasons why livestock became very expensive. Left for northerners, a cow would still sell for 50k in Nigeria today. My friend (let’s call him John) said it is people from other regions that eat meat like our lives depend on it. And we kill animals for any and everything including the burial of a young person. The North has more snails than we realize and they even waste them cos they don’t value them. John said in the north, eating too fast or swallowing garri or fufu is a sign of a greedy person. Your parents will correct it from small. John said the crops God blessed northern Nigeria with can sustain Nigeria’s economy even without the oil. And the oil is what Nigeria should have used to become a first world country, more like the icing on a cake. He said we in the south who haven’t been to the north have not seen or eaten 50% of the exotic crops the north is blessed with.

In 2018, I lost my job in Lagos. Hid it from family for 4 months. Every morning, dressed up, carried a laptop bag, and left the house like normal. Sat in a buka in Yaba with free Wi-Fi applying endlessly. One day, my dad called me aside. “I know you lost your job.” I froze. He said, “I didn’t want to shame you. A man feels small when he can’t provide.” Then he gave me ₦20k from pension, with his arthritis bills piling up. “Hold yourself. Don’t tell your mother.” I cried that night. Not for money. But for the quiet love protecting my pride. Two months later, a better job came. Now I pay all his bills. That ₦20k wasn’t cash. It was belief. And belief changes everything. Do you have moments when your parents stood by you?

@Jaecougar I dated someone after and when his dad died, I maintained distance, he said I wasn't there for him and it hurt him so much, I said I thought it was the right thing to do because of an experience, he stopped talking to me😭😭 Experience can make or mar us. May God give us wisdom

@Jaecougar Omo this life no just balance. I once dated a guy that just blocked me out when his mother died. He won't pick my calls, he won't talk to me, came back to Nigeria, did the burial and it was after the burial he called me and said it was grieve.

A female friend of mine who stood by me during my trying time, especially when my mum was in the hospital till her last day, suddenly went cold and silent on me. Even though I was grieving at that point, I made it a duty to call in and check up on her, this was in January - February of 2025. She stopped taking my calls, stopped replying my texts, she just disappeared, I kept on reaching out till one day in March 2025, she told me she went cold and silent so I could grieve properly, I was dead confused, but then I told her that I respect her decision, that changed the dynamics of our relationship and to this day, we haven't spoken.

Since my kids started going for block rosary, the kind of goodies they usually come back with, i never had such when I was small. Tonight, they came back with plates of Jollof rice and drinks. Apparently someone gave them to help pray for his/her intentions 🙃
