@StephenFleming Have used faxburner.com in a pinch before. Worked well. I use Fax.Plus primarily. It is not free. I pay $169 a year. It's set up under the business, but due to Caleb's medical needs, a lot of medical faxes run through it. Reliable.

A friend needed to send a 38 page fax (medical consult). She went to the UPS Store and they charged her $82!! ($2/page plus tax.) That’s insane. I have a scanner. What’s the best Internet fax service for very occasional use?

I used to phrase it as: Startup CEOs can’t share their troubles with their employees because they’ll quit. They can’t share with their investors because they’ll get fired. And they can’t share with their spouse because she will say “You never should have quit that job at the phone company!”

One reason CEO roles are so draining: There's no boss to give you positive reinforcement for good work

First there was no illness. Then it was “burn pits”. Now it’s low level Sarin gas exposure? What I know is that a SIGNIFICANT number of my friends caught "something” that messed up their health. perplexity.ai/page/mitochond…

$500k for a select few Senators. 20 years of hemp industry progress destroyed. Yeah, what a great “win” for the right.

DGX Spark appears to be maxing out at only 100 watts power draw, less than half of the rated 240 watts, and it only seems to be delivering about half the quoted performance (assuming 1 PF sparse FP4 = 125 TF dense BF16) . It gets quite hot even at this level, and I saw a report of spontaneous rebooting on a long run, so was it de-rated before launch?

The new Buc-ees all seem to have a backrow of fast chargers and some of the older ones I've seen retrofitted. Caleb and I were up your way last week for our hunting trip to Grayling, Mi. Wasn't sure we were going to actually make it up so didnt check in on you for a quick breakfast or dinner.

Current status? Just chased down our Volvo XC40 Recharge as it was stolen last night. I found it's location with the app and awaiting police. Stupid criminals.

But how are they going to charge me $50 for my checked bag out front before security? :) Delta has been the worst recently. If I checked a carry-on at the gate, I used to get to board earlier (and some extra snacks). Now it's just 'expected' that we all bring our bags through security to have them put in the baggage area anyway.

If you have been "mirandized" and you answer 'yes' to the follow-up question "Do you understand these rights?", is there precedent that is used for/against this being a waiver of 5th amendment rights? (Google search seems to be confused by my query)

WOW! Illinois' lawyer just argued you only need 2.2 rounds for a self-defense encounter. That's why the Founders required every militia man to have a minimum of "Twenty-four Cartridges suited to the Bore of his Musket."  U.S. v. Miller, 307 U.S. 174 (1939).🔥

My dad worked on 45 foundations of the 60 reactors we once had in the US. Each of them took two years to build in the 1950s and 60s. It does not take forever to build a reactor. It takes forever to get the DOE and AEC to make up their minds what the reactor has to be built like. And even more 'forever' to get all the lawsuits done. Building a reactor put Westinghouse out of business.

@space_stations @StephenFleming I like that phrase, double jurisdiction. And we have seen scenarios like this unfold. Homeowner defends himself in his home, jury acquits, aggressive fed steps in and hits them with a rights claim as I mentioned above. It’s a no win.

I’m really torn here. I’m old enough to remember the phrase “Don’t make a Federal case out of it!” Crimes like this SHOULD be prosecuted by the city or county. This smacks of double jeopardy. But when local authorities have proven they’re not willing to prosecute, Federal intervention is better than doing nothing. But it’s a slippery slope.

I’m of the same opinion as you on this. A civil rights violation or hate crime case could be brought by the Feds without preventing/interfering with the local/state screwups in the murder charge. US 18/249 I think since it ended in a death, could be equal to or greater than the State seems willing to apply. No possible death sentence though in this situation.
