Flying over the HS2 route last week. No track, no trains, not a ticket sold. Cost to date £100bn for just 140 miles of track & yes, it’s running years late. Scottish taxpayers send every penny of tax collected in Scotland to @hmtreasury - this is how they spend it! 🤪

HS2 will now cost £102.7 billion, and won’t open until 2039. It was once held up as the project that would unite the Union 😀

UK a democracy or not? The structural question is simple the answer unbreakable. 1 If the UK is a voluntary union of nations, then each nation must have a meaningful say in its future. Without ongoing consent, it stops being a union and becomes something else. 2 The UK’s democratic mechanisms no longer command confidence This is observable, measurable, and widely acknowledged across the political spectrum. A system that cannot demonstrate legitimacy cannot rely on historical claims to override present reality. 3 When legitimacy breaks, constitutional renegotiation becomes necessary Every modern state facing constitutional decay must either reform or dissolve. This is standard constitutional practice. A union that cannot demonstrate ongoing consent is not a union it is an arrangement that must be reviewed. That’s it the whole argument. Simple unanswerable. The core A union that cannot demonstrate ongoing consent is not a union. It is an arrangement that must be reviewed.🤔☮️🌏⚖️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Orthodoxy isn't evidence, it's just a story that's been repeated so many times it's accepted - you appear to have no counter-evidence. Presenting a circular argument that the state is legitimate because it exists doesn't address the issue. The evidence here is institutional continuity. Scotland’s Parliament ceased. England’s Parliament continued at Westminster and absorbed Scottish representatives. That's the point you're continually avoiding and need to rebut to show you have any argument beyond the obvious avoidance moves you're currently resorting to. The issue hasn't been "tested" in the forums that are capable of testing it, namely those not relying on the state under question for legitimacy. That's where the issue is landing now. If you believe I'm wrong, present your argument, and stop deflecting. When was the state that became the UK created, and by what mutual and equal act of refoundation? And if it was why did one constitution and Parliament continue, the other asymmetrically dissolved and alienated? The core issue is whether the Treaty/Acts themselves were ever implemented, if not the UK has a legitimacy problem.

Come on @Tesco!!! You buy a steak for £11 for a special occasion, looks lovely until you turn it over and realise half of it is fat and sinew. No time to return it so have to pretty much cut it in half to make it edible. Finest my ass!! Do better and stop tricking customers!!

@janforindy2 So you're happy with a party that lost 6 msp's along with 10% of the vote and now has to rely on the loony Greens. A party that lost 38 of its 47 mp's at the 2024 GE which we were told was a de facto referendum yet you still seem to think independence will happen. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Ming Yang wanted this factory in Scotland, but Westminster blocked the £1.5bn investment. Now the jobs are going to Spain. Scotland has watched opportunity after opportunity go elsewhere because of Westminster. It’s time we go our own way. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 reuters.com/sustainability…

Over the election campaign, I said I would put the cost of living at the top of our agenda – and that is exactly how I will govern. This week I will appoint the new SNP ministerial team so we can immediately get on with the job. My Daily Record column today. 👇

SCOTLAND'S COLONIAL NEWSPAPERS The Colonial Times, right-wing and for the Union, has its front page on England's leadership drivel. It pretends it cares about Scots with a photo of Scott Hastings in his prime, rugby star dead at 61-years of age. Almost all, except the local press, feature the untimely death of Hastings. The Courier tells of concern for the quality of air around the smouldering recycling plant - a fire probably started by a vape - a small taste of what it must be like living in Gaza, a land in permanent flames from Israeli bombings.

Scotland, the "energy capital" of Europe. Scotland, the most energy rich country in Europe. Scotland, the highest levels of energy poverty in Europe. Scotland cannot prosper in a union that is designed to exploit people, extract wealth & leave the poorest dependent on handouts.

The Celtic Nations are the guardians of Celtic languages. Ireland has "Irish". Wales has "Welsh". The Isle of Man has "Manx". Cornwall, "Cornish". Brittany, "Breton". Scotland? "Scots"? Nope that's Germanic, formerly called "Inglis". See the problem? Scottish Gaelic's survival can't be guaranteed unless we remove a major obstacle first. Gaelic was still known as "Scottis" and the "Scottish Language" until the late 16th century, with Buchanan describing it as the "Scottish Language" in the 1580's. Through a deliberate and self-serving process led by powerful Elite "Inglis" speakers in Scotland, that label was gradually removed, disenfranchising Scottish Gaelic. This has created a huge psychological barrier between the Scottish people and their original "Scottish Language" ever since, alienating and distancing them from it, with most unaware that it was ever called "Scottis" and the "Lingua Scotica", nevermind that this change occurred relatively recently, in historical terms, in the early modern period. Restoring Scottish Gaelic to its original and rightful place in everyday discussion is incredibly easy - we just drop the "Gaelic" and keep the "Scottish"! We stop "Scottish" being simply the modifier of a generic "Gaelic" - as in "Scottish Gaelic" - and instead claim it back as our own, as simply: "Scottish". "The Scottish Language" How easy to right a historical linguistic theft! But what a powerful, transformative psychological shift. A shift that would align us with our Celtic cousins and serve to heal the alienation that was artificially introduced between the Scottish people and the "Scottish" language. After all, who but the most soul-dead doesn't want to support and preserve their own language? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿✊

The new presiding officer has said he "won't stand for any misgendering" at Holyrood in relation to new trans MSPs Iris Duane and Q Manivannan. I don't know if either have a GRC or if it's a case of self-id. Either way, is it the case other MSPs/members of staff may have gender-critical beliefs, which are legally protected, so could lawfully refer to them as males? Is it the PO's role to police and control speech in such a politically contentious way? Discussion - and legal advice - welcome. @ForWomenScot @LucyHunterB @SexMattersOrg thetimes.com/article/c41d7c…

@johnnypict @outofunion No voting system is perfect!! Certainly not the D’Hondt!! All political parties , if they haven’t had successful elections, will always moan, but relegating certain members of parliament to second class/ rate, is never healthy!! 🫣🫠🫠🤔

@outofunion The system is crap and I'd prefer proportional representation but ... You elect a party on the list. That party has actual list of people. You know who will get the seats from that list. So you know who will be elected. Small parties need the list. Please stop this crap.

NO LISTY MSP’s.. Should take a seat on ANY committee in preference to a properly elected MSP. Being “selected” for a seat is totally different to being ELECTED. Our ELECTED Members should be able to represent the voters that put them in.
