📢 Excited to announce that our lab study on #fish-turbine interaction has been published 🐟 we explored juvenile rainbow trout response to a single turbine under a range of test conditions 💦 Have a look here ➡️ nature.com/articles/s4159… @WISECDT @CUWaterResearch @UoM_MACE @EPSRC
Pablo Ouro@OuroPablo

Just submitted: Hydrokinetic turbines do not impact fish swimming behaviour as fish tend to avoid the device and successfully moved upstream and downstream without interference. @Stephie_Mueller @EngineeringCU @UoM_MACE Here we have a fish enjoying to swim in the turbine wake!

For this week's "jumping #fish" #SundayFishSketch theme, I've drawn a manta ray 🐟 (Cephalopterus manta). Mantas sometimes leap out of #water with a potential explanation being the attraction of mates. Check out this link to see their spectacular jumps ▶️ youtu.be/oz6zOyZpYTY

For this week's #SundayFishSketch and the #WomensHistoryMonth, here, a blue jack mackerel 🐟(Trachurus picturatus) described by Sarah Bowdich in 1825. She was an English author/illustrator/traveller/zoologist/botanist & one of the first woman to describe a new #fish species.

Strongly influenced by the video of a #sea lamprey feeing on a carp, a sketch of a European #river lamprey (Lampetra fluviatilis) for this week's #SundayFishSketch 🐟 Did you know that these #fish are a traditional delicacy in some countries?

Hidden Below: The Great Lakes@HiddenBelowFilm

This #invasive sea lamprey feeding on a #nonnative carp, swimming over a bed of invasive #mussels makes me squirm 😬 The Great Lakes Fishery Commission have had tremendous success controlling the #sealamprey in the #greatlakes, so footage of them feeding in the wild is rare!

Find your #innerfish - difficult to choose from so many 🐟 but I guess I could be a batfish (Platax genus), which is thought to be a very friendly and curious #fish. While platax teira may be found in schools, platax batavia swim alone or in small groups🐠🐠🐠 #Sundayfishsketch

A little bobtail squid 🐙 for today's groundhog day #Sundayfishsketch theme as they are both great in building burrows in the ground. 🐙🦑🐟
