Lady Gaga has now wrapped her one night only performance of “MAYHEM: REQUIEM” at the Wiltern in Los Angeles. The show lasted around 1 hour and 15 minutes. She performed the entire “MAYHEM” album in order, and yes, that included “Don’t Call Tonight” and “Blade Of Grass.” The deluxe tracks (“The Dead Dance” and “Kill For Love”) were not performed, except for “Can’t Stop The High,” which played during the bow and featured a few sung lines. The show was a completely new and much darker reinterpretation of the album. Every song was rearranged into haunting, stripped down, rock, grunge, industrial, and electronic versions. The entire experience felt like an unhinged DJ set and Gaga did not interact with the audience until the very end. Among the standout moments, she reportedly performed “Die With A Smile” using vocoder over synths similar to the “Nightcall” instrumental by Kavinsky. “Vanish Into You” was the most visually stunning performance of the night. “Abracadabra” began on piano, and “ZombieBoy” was radically reworked. The stage design and lighting were absolutely mind blowing. She used around five to six pianos and organs throughout the show and delivered some of the darkest and most gothic looks of the era so far across four costume changes. The show will be available to watch on Apple Music at a later date.
