@redeemed_zoomer The more likely thesis is that you actually don’t know what 1 Timothy is about
English

@DrSly16 @Brosephos @BigHatNate So are you paying up then?
You managed to lose an argument with me yesterday and I’m aware I’m an idiot, why do you think you’ve got a chance against Brosephos?
GIF
English

@Brosephos @BigHatNate I would bet $100,000 that you can’t tell me where your Bible is right now. I’m willing to wager you don’t own one.
English

Condemns Catholics to hell.
Gets mad when Cinny dismisses her.
Hey, Bible expert, do you believe:
1. Baptism saves
2. A man is justified by works and not by faith alone
3. Mary's soul magnifies the Lord
4. The Church is the pillar and bulwark of the truth
KellyMRago@kellymarierago
This is the state of modern Catholicism—🙈🙉🙊
English

@fawzydawah So you take this, a statement about seed size and say it’s a contradiction…
But believe the moon split in two with absolutely zero evidence?
Weird that.
English

Christianity is FALLING APART because of this (Mustard seed dilemma)
Jesus says in Mathew 13:31-32 the smallest of all seeds is the Mustard seed and that’s not scientifically true
The smallest seed is orchid seeds, therefore Jesus got it wrong

Khālid 🇬🇪@KhalidDawah11
CHRISTIANS YOU CAN’T DEAL WITH THE MUSTARD SEED DILEMMA!
English

@JesseDornfeld IQ doesn’t change the text nor does it make you correct. I’ll repeat… Cyril says God has ‘forsaken his people, the house of Israel’ for rejecting the Savior, and calls the house of Jacob to the new light. That’s fulfillment in the Church, the mainstream patristic view.
English

@StepsToMercy Sir, I have an IQ of 130 and my verbal IQ is the highest out of anything. I am pretty sure I have not taken anything out of context. I think you are doing what Catholics do and reinterpreting ancient stuff to fit the views the Catholic church finds convenient at this time.
English

@JesseDornfeld Cyril is doing the complete opposite of what you interpret. He is speaking of the fulfilment, not of a separate future.
With all due respect, your reading comprehension needs improving and you must stop putting your own ideas in to the text and claiming it’s truth.
GIF
English

The Bible also says that YHWH has divorced Israel, but if we read the passage in context, we see it is in nowise permanent. The same is true of Cyril here. He DOES believe in turn of the Jewish people (House of Jacob) to God even though they are under judgment now. He focuses on their judgment more because of the time and place that he lived irt the Jews. We are a long way from that, my friend, as the Jews are now in their homeland. We are seeing things these guys hundreds of years ago could not even dream of.
English

@DrSly16 @IFBased @joshwhitlatch @JTJosephauthor And the absolute drastically increased in this case and didn’t shrink. You’re continuously now defeating your own argument and don’t even realise it.
English

@StepsToMercy @IFBased @joshwhitlatch @JTJosephauthor The total can also shrink while staying at 15% as a share, it can grow as a total while decreasing as a share %, it can also shrink as a total while increasing it’s share %.
Total population is useless information demographic comparisons. You MUST use % in order to have context.
English

@JesseDornfeld The exhortation is to repent and walk in the new light. Cyril says God has ‘forsaken his people, the house of Israel’ for rejecting the Savior. That’s fulfillment in the Church. The text you posted supports that, not a separate future for ethnic Israel.
English

@StepsToMercy No... The BEGINNING of the quote (in blue) is about Israel's condemnation... But what does Cyril actually say about this? That if they repent the Lord will be for them...
He says it is, "For exhortation and reproof."
Not just reproof, but also exhortation... It says that.
English

@JesseDornfeld Also, you appealed to Cyril first... Now that the excerpt you posted shows God forsaking Israel and calling them to the new light (the Church), you’re saying Cyril has a ‘different concept’ of Israel? That’s contradictory.
English

I literally read page after page, bro. What are you even talking about, "In context?" Bro, I spent serious time on this... I see the issue clearly... You don't. How is it he can say that Israel, as we know it today, will all be saved, and still hold that the Church is Israel? Because he has a different concept of what Israel means and has zero concept of Messianic Jews, for if he had, he would have mentioned them somewhere. But he doesn't any place I read. The "House of Jacob" (Israel) and "Israel" (the Church) are always distinct with NO in between. I probably spent a good hour reading, bro. I am taking exactly nothing out of context.
English

@JesseDornfeld Jesse, that excerpt highlighted in the context of the entire passage you posted literally does not support anything you said.
As expected, You’ve just disregarded what the text says and replaced it with what you “think” he meant. Why?
English

In short, he views the "Church" as Gentile Christians and has zero conception whatsoever of Messianic Jews. It is a completely foreign concept to him. If he had known about Messianic Jews, he would have embraced them, I believe, as his view of "Israel" is the Church as Gentile Christians, and the "House of Jacob," in his view, we call Israel today. Same concept we have today, just different terms, with the added idea that he had no idea about Messianic Jews.
English

@DrSly16 @IFBased @joshwhitlatch @JTJosephauthor If a group remains 15% of a growing population, its absolute size can still double. That is still growth in any standard demographic sense.
You’re redefining “growth” to mean only percentage share.
English

@StepsToMercy @IFBased @joshwhitlatch @JTJosephauthor Yes it is. Demographic data is all percentage data. The total number of a particular set is useless information without the relevant population comparison. To be 15% of a total population of something every year is not growth. You’re relying on total growth, not Christian growth.
English

@DrSly16 @IFBased @joshwhitlatch @JTJosephauthor Your example actually proves the point, absolute and relative measures can move differently depending on population size. 😂😂
Saying it “hasn’t grown” is just redefining growth to mean only percentage share, which isn’t how the term is used in demographics.
English

@StepsToMercy @IFBased @joshwhitlatch @JTJosephauthor The “absolute” number of people starving to death in the world today is higher than it was 2000 years ago.
Would you say the problem of death from starvation has grown or decreased for the world in the last 2000 years?
English

@DrSly16 @IFBased @joshwhitlatch @JTJosephauthor The number has risen in absolute terms. That categorically means that there hasn’t been a decrease. That’s what ABSOLUTE means.
GIF
English

@StepsToMercy @IFBased @joshwhitlatch @JTJosephauthor “Absolute growth is growth”
Not in any meaningful way. The Roman church has stopped growing, because it is not converting more people than it’s losing. That’s what growth requires; more addition than subtraction.
English

@IFBased @joshwhitlatch @JTJosephauthor Absolutely. And your theology is something that emerged in the 20th century.
English

@JesseDornfeld catholiclibrary.org/library/view?d…
There’s also more. This is simply one instance that directly contradicts your claims.
English

@StepsToMercy Share the source of this... Please and thank you.
English

@StepsToMercy I DID NOT SEE ANY LINKS! IMAGES ARE NOT LINKS.
Literally my notifications... Not as single mention of you.

English

Bro literally does not understand the situation... I am WILLING to engage, but this guy has his account set up with like zero authentication so I get zero notifications from him. Please, for the love of God, mention me in the relevant post (or link), and I'll engage if I see it.
Darren 🇻🇦✝️@StepsToMercy
@JesseDornfeld I suppose I’ll just put it here so absolutely everyone can see you merely promote your interpretation and run when provided with evidence that proves you are wrong.
English

@JoelSettecase @LizzieMarbach Always a pastor/teacher at some weird non denominational church trying to tell apostolic Christians they’re not historically correct and don’t see the irony.
GIF
English

@LizzieMarbach It's like it's from another world. And in a sense it is. Roman Catholicism is false too, but at least it makes more sense to a Westerner like me. EOism is false *and* foreign.
English

Hear it from the EO themselves, Protestants! We do not have the same gospel.
Hill@YariLogos
@LizzieMarbach It's extremely obvious to me, especially after this back and forth, that we are different religions
English

@DrSly16 @IFBased @joshwhitlatch @JTJosephauthor Inflation has nothing to do with population growth. You are misusing the word. 😂
Absolute growth is growth, it is not debatable, 1.4billion Catholics.
English

@StepsToMercy @IFBased @joshwhitlatch @JTJosephauthor Because that’s what you’re falsely calling “growth”.
The Roman church isn’t growing any longer. It stopped growing long ago.
It’s simply inflating, and doing so at the same rate as the world’s population. That’s stagnation, it is not growth.
Hope that helps
English

@JesseDornfeld Do I have to do everything for you including your research?
Darren 🇻🇦✝️@StepsToMercy
@JesseDornfeld Well now you have a problem don’t you.
English

@StepsToMercy Look, MENTION ME in the correct place where the conversation is happening... I am NOT getting a SINGLE notification from you posts because of the settings I use which cuts down on spam and such. Mention me in the relevant places. I am happy to engage. Or link to the post. Thanks.
