What is grace? Grace is God's undeserved mercy, love, and compassion towards humanity. We are saved by grace through faith. Salvation is a free gift from God, no works are required to be saved (Ephesians 2:8-9). However, just because we are saved by grace this does not give us a free pass to live in sin or disobedience towards God (Romans 6:1-2). Salvation requires us to be "born again" which means we must be renewed through the Holy Spirit. Essentially, no longer are you a slave of sin but rather a God-fearing follower of Christ (John 3:3-8). This does not mean we are required to be sinless, grace is there to compensate for our imperfect human nature and structure. We have been given this as a result of what our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. Without him and the sacrifice he made, we would all be destined towards eternal death (Romans 3:23-25). He is the promised Messiah who lived a sinless life to fulfill the Law of Moses. Therefore, we are no longer judged under the Old Covenant but rather judged under the New Covenant. Only through the name of Jesus can we obtain salvation (John 14:6).
